CHEF BALDWIN IS AWARDED GRANT
Each year the Mid-Coast Maine Retired Educators’ Associations gives out three grants to any teacher in the Bath Brunswick area. The applicants submit a proposal in October and the executive committee meets and rates each proposal.
This year we chose Chef EB Baldwin, Culinary Arts Instructor, as one of the three recipients. The committee was very impressed that the program “Lobster Week” included the professional lobstermen, elementary students and the high school culinary arts students.
BODY WORLDS IN BOSTON
Before Thanksgiving break, our health sciences students visited BODY WORLDS in Boston. BODY WORLDS takes visitors on an unforgettable journey into the human body. The unique exhibition provides fascinating insights into the body’s complex structure and explains how functional systems and organs interact.
BODY WORLDS does not only focus on conveying anatomical knowledge. The exhibition aims to inspire visitors to live consciously, to pay more attention to their health, to recognize their physical potential and limitations, and to reflect on what it means to be human. Thank you to MELMAC for providing funds for the transportation and admission to this unique opportunity!
DARLINGS AUTO GROUP VISITS AUTOMOTIVE
Darlings Auto Group presented to Automotive today a 2023 Ford Raptor R and a 2023 Ford Lightning Electric vehicle. Both vehicles being completely opposite, students got to experience the differences between electric and gas powered vehicles. Students were able to use all functions of the newest technologies with the telematics systems, aka radios!! All students were able to view a slide show of the many different opportunities within the automotive trade and not just the technician end of the job. The day wrapped up with a game of kahoot and gift cards handed out to the winners and the others received some Ford swag. Thank you, Darlings Ford for the visit!
COSMETOLOGY VISIT FROM SALON CHRYSALIS
Courtney Davis from Salon Chrysalis visited our Cosmetology program and talked with students on Monday. She talked about her experiences in the trade and was able to share her experience as a new business owner. She now rents a salon suite and was able to share pictures of her salon suite. Thanks for coming, Courtney!
CARPENTRY VISITS SHELTER INSTITUTE
Our PM carpentry class visited the Shelter Institute this Tuesday. They were able to tour the campus and learn about the different types of cuts, wood, and tools used to build timber frame homes. Shelter Institute is in between classes because of the holidays, so students were able to interact with the instructors and see different cuts and tools used to make those cuts. Each student received a gift certificate to the store that Shelter Institute has on campus. Thank you Shelter Institute for hosting our students!
