Our campus is beginning to see signs of sickness. With that being said, please do not send your student to school if they have a fever. Doing so, puts your student as well as other students and faculty at risk. A fever, per our district policy is defined as a temperature of 100 degrees or above. In order to return to school, a student must be fever free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before they can return. Protect yourself and your loved ones by doing the following:

• Taking a flu shot
• Washing your hands frequently or using hand sanitizer
• Stay home when you are sick
• Covering your cough

Let’s keep flu and other illnesses out of school!!!

We are excited that basketball season has arrived! Please help us reiterate the campus and district game expectations to your student(s) as we continue to support our athletes through the season.

1. Students must be in the district approved dress code at the game.

2. Students should remain in the stands or gym to watch the games and limit their trips to the concession and restroom areas to halftime and between games. Students are not allowed to loiter/hang out around the concession and restroom area at any time.

3. Once students leave the game, they are not allowed to return.

4. Students’ conduct should promote sportsmanship and reflect Vandeventer in a positive and respectful manner. Conversations should be appropriate and profanity is prohibited.
5. Students should not have the following items or similar items with them: football, soccer ball, tennis ball, skate board, scooter, etc. Please leave items such as these in the car or at home.
6. Students must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the conclusion of the game in order to attend future extracurricular events. Students are encouraged to call parents at the beginning of the last quarter rather than waiting until the game is over. Administrators will wait with students until they are picked up to ensure student safety, so please ensure that your student has a ride immediately following the game.
7. Students not meeting these expectations may be asked to sit with their parents (if parents are present), or to call their parents to pick them up. Students may also not be allowed to return for future extracurricular events.
8. Food and drink are prohibited from being brought into either gym.

Frisco ISD is making it easier for guardians to find key information about their students through a new portal called the Guardian Gateway. The Guardian Gateway portal was created and designed based on feedback from parents who were looking for an easier and secure way to access information for multiple children within one platform. Be on the lookout for information that will come via email starting January 15 to begin the sign up process. Soon guardians will be able to view multiple children within one HAC account, access STAAR scores and find regular important updates all in one place. BASKETBALL PARENTS: We are in need of volunteers for 7th and 8th Grade Boys and Girls basketball concessions. Come early to help before your child's game or stay after the game to help! We need YOU! Your high schoolers can help and get service hours! If we do not get volunteers, we cannot open the concession stand.

Hello Vandeventer Dads! (Or Moms - you're more than welcome to join us too!) Please join us for breakfast and some fun time with your student on Friday, January 31st at 7:35 a.m. Similar to the past month's meetings, we will meet in the VMS library and discuss some useful topics. Come to enjoy some positive time with your students before start their school day. Please RSVP ASAP. We will adjourn at about 8:15 so your sons and daughters can get to class.
