Husky Howler 9/22/23 (Guardians)
We are the PACK!
Smiley Thoughts
PACK Guardians,
Thank you to all the parents that partner WITH us to help make sure their child is successful in their education! YOU are a part of the PACK and the PACK can't help your child be successful without your active engagement. That being said, thank you to the guardians who are checking their child's grades in the Parent Portal and to those who showed up last night.. Six weeks progress reports go in this upcoming week and they determine eligibility. If your child is not passing at that time, they are not eligible to play in any UIL competition. Here are some additional reminders:
6th grade Parent Drop Off - When dropping off your 6th graders at the front of the building, please make sure to have them ready to roll ASAP. Waiting on students to gather their belongings, finish their breakfast, get a hug, etc. is slowing down the process. Help them storm those beaches by reminding them to have everything ready. If they are not ready, just pull on down further. Always remember to watch your speed and obey all traffic laws!
DC/NY Trip - Do you have an 8th grader who wants an AWESOME experience and opportunity to go to Washington DC and NYC over spring break? Join us Wednesday at 5:30pm in the Media Center for an informational meeting with our awesome AVID teacher, Candace Veatch!
HOMECOMING - This will be the week of October 9th-13th. There will be a 6th grade dance after school from 4-5:30pm and 7/8th 6-7:30pm. More information will come later but here is the theme for the week:
Monday - "Color out for the Huskies" 6th - Black, 7th - White, 8th - Orange
Tuesday - Crocodile Hunter - Wear Steve Irwin style clothes because its GATOR season!
Wednesday - Country vs. Country Club
Thursday - Tacky Tourist
Friday - Mums and Overalls (no bells/whistles on the mums)
We will have a homecoming parade on Tuesday where the football/cheer walk the campus and are cheered on by ALL students as opposed to only one grade level. Parents will have a designated location as well.
***Repeat***
Attendance/Truancy/Credit Denial letters - I know it is early in the year, but we already have some students who are accruing absences to the point that you will receive letters from the campus/district. Compulsory attendance is outlined in our Hubbard Guardian Handbook and is a requirement by the state of Texas. Students are required to be at school 90% of the time or they can face retention as well as you face truancy charges. Please work with the campus to communicate absences and get your students to school as much as possible.
Progress reports - Student progress report grades will always be posted to the online Parent Portal. They will be posted again this week and then we will send home paper report cards at the 9 week reporting date. Please get logged in and help us support your Husky!
Free and reduced lunch - Please either return your free and reduced lunch form or fill it out online: https://www.mealappnow.com/mantyl/splash.php The rollover deadline from last year is September 27th. After that time, students will not be given free lunch based on last year's qualifications.
Campus texts - If you are not receiving the campus text messages, please text “start” to 98900 to begin getting messages again.
