All NBHS students will have the opportunity to participate in our annual Career Day this Wednesday. We have a dynamic Keynote Speaker, LeeAnn Marie Webster, presenting on the No Regrets Formula! They will hear from some dynamic local professionals, participate in a Job Fair, and get a Reality Check! Your child will not want to miss this!

Due to the school construction there will be no Veterans Day program at NBHS this year. In lieu of a Veterans Day program the Key Club will be sending certificates of gratitude and letters of thanks to Veterans directly via mail. Congratulations to Luke Cycholl, Collin Featherston, Layla Hein, Tyler Hulett, Jadyn Perry, and Kamden Sheedy on their prestigious academic achievement of being named Illinois State Scholars for the Class of 2024. The Illinois State Scholar program is awarded to high school seniors based on ACT or SAT test scores and the sixth semester* class size and unweighted class rank and Grade Point Average (GPA).

August: Kami Sheedy This is what their teacher had to say about them: Kami is always stepping up to do her part to make New Berlin a really great community. She's always ready to help get goals accomplished, she's involved in almost every club the school could offer, she maintains great grades, recently made the All Tournament Team for volleyball, and is always super personable with the teachers

September: Madigan Burger This is what their teacher had to say about them: I nominate Madigan for student of the month for September. She works very hard in class and submits her best work for every assignment. She balances school with extracurricular activities and is responsible beyond many of her peers. She deserves to be recognized as a model New Berlin student.

If your child is at-risk for failing or failing a class, there is still plenty of time to turn things around! High school students earn credits based on their semester grade using this formula: 40% of their Q1 grade + 40% of their Q2 grade + 20% of their Semester Exam grade.

So, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the academic supports we have in place for students that are struggling.

• 8th Hour Advisory Tutoring – Our National Honor Society students offer peer tutoring from during Advisory. Please contact your child's teacher, Mr. Viola, or me and we will get them signed up for tutoring!

• After School Support –There is a staff member available to help your child from 3:30-4:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with homework. Please contact me if you want your child to take advantage of this support.

• HW/Lunch Detention – Students that are missing several assignments or major projects may be assigned to a homework lunch detention until they have all missing work completed and are passing all of their classes.

• High School HW Advisory Academic Support– High school students may be assigned to a homework advisory detention until they have all missing work completed and are passing all of their classes.

Please be sure to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences! If you are unable to attend, please email your child's teacher with any concerns that you may have.
