When two college recruiters at a prestigious university need to fill one last spot to keep their jobs, thirteen eccentric, dimwitted, and slightly insane high school seniors are eager to come in for an interview. What seems like a simple task turns into a nightmare when the applicants turn out to be a reality TV star, a practicing vampire, an amateur magician, and others that are much worse. Each applicant’s interview hilariously illustrates what NOT to do at a college interview.

The Honeoye Falls-Lima Drama Club presents, 13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview by Ian McWethy premiering November 12th & 13th, at 7:30 p.m., in the High School Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.

New York State requires all school districts to annually notify parents/guardians of specific laws and/or regulations. In an effort to reduce costs, the Honeoye Falls-Lima School District will be providing these notifications to families electronically this year, unless otherwise requested by returning the hard-copy request form attached below. The following chart lists those statutes and/or regulations required annually. The district will continue to incorporate the NYSED application and guidelines for free and reduced meals as an insert in the HF-L Community Calendar.

Do you like to use your creative abilities to make one-of-a-kind works of art? If so, you should sign up for December's Craft Club! Each session will feature a different craft, and are you ready for the best part? For those of you who plan on giving your artistic creations as gifts, you will be able to gift wrap them - talk about "Secret Santa"! Club Paper is designed to keep students engaged in a fun, low-pressure learning environment while giving the flexibility to select individual classes that match students’ interests and fit within their schedules. This virtual program offers daily live and on-demand classes across several categories, including art, movement, math, science, cooking, language, and more. Classes vary each week, and a full schedule of the week’s classes are available every Friday. https://club.paper.co/#about Students can log in via ClassLink using the Club Paper icon.

The Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District is happy to announce its partnership with Paper, a digital tutoring service. This service is available to all HF-L students in grades 4-12 and will provide free, unlimited access to virtual tutoring sessions. These sessions are 1:1 and are available 24 hours a day. Students can access this using their ClassLink portal.

Using Paper, students get homework help, writing feedback, and study support on demand. Teachers gain insights into learning gaps. Administrators have visibility into where support is needed.

UPDATE: Paper is now offering live parent webinars. They are every 2 weeks in English and Spanish. 45 mins, parents sign up through that page and they will receive a Zoom link by email. https://pages.paper.co/webinars-for-parents-and-guardians

Mendon Public Library is open M-Th, 9 am - 8 pm. Friday and Saturday, 9 am - 3 pm.

We will be showing the Fall 2021 Books Sandwiched In book reviews, provided by the FFRPL (Friends and Foundation of Rochester Public Library).

HF-L Nordic Ski Swap and Sale “The Largest One Day XC Ski Sale in the State” Slated for Saturday, November 20, 2021, The HFL Nordic Ski Swap and Sale will take place November 20, 2021, from 9 am – 1 pm at the Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School on Quaker Meeting House Road, Honeoye Falls. The sale, which has been held for nearly the past 27 years, has often been called “The Largest One Day XC Ski Sale in New York State.” The public is encouraged to bring in used cross-country ski equipment and clothing to consign for the sale on the evening of November 19, 2021, from 7-8:30 pm. Money made from the sale of used equipment will be returned to the seller less than 15% to support local childrens’ and Section V High School Nordic Programs and nordic trail grooming efforts. The public sale will open at 9 am on November 20, 2021. Used cross country equipment, demo equipment, and clothing will be available in the cafeteria til noon. New Nordic equipment and clothing from ski shops around New York State will be available in the gym til 1 pm. Masks must be worn inside all school buildings. High School skiers will be on hand to hot wax cross country skis for a nominal fee. Bindings will also be mounted on-site for an additional fee.
