School Announcement
September 21
Dear PPCS Families,
On behalf of the Parent CREW we would like to welcome you to another year as part of the PPCS community. We hope that the school year is off to a smooth start for your family. Despite the current circumstances due to COVID-19, we are dedicated to making 20/21 a great year for our children.
The Parent Crew consists of all of the parents in our school, just like the grade level CREWs are made up of all the kids in a class. We work together to organize fun social events for families and students, support teachers and staff, and plan fundraisers to support school programs. We hope that we can count on each of you to support our work this year and will have a variety of ways for you to become involved. Please mark your calendars for our first Parent CREW meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24th at 7 p.m. Via Zoom. (Zoom information is at the bottom of this letter.) Everyone is welcome! We need your ideas and your energy.
There are several new Parent CREW initiatives this year that we would like to make you aware of:
In order to ensure a diversity of voices, and plan activities that meet the needs of our families, we are looking to recruit at least one parent CREW representative from each class. Class representatives would commit to attending the two Parent CREW meetings that we schedule each semester and helping to plan our activities and fundraisers. If you are interested in becoming a PARENT CREW representative for your class please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0d44a5aa22a4fb6-ppcs2
We have heard from many families who are looking for ways to create social connections for their children. In order to empower families to make social connections during our Remote Yet Connected learning, we have created a PPCS family message Board. The message Board can be found here: https://ppcs.boards.net and is linked on our website.
We have added a PPCS mentor program that will set new families up with a mentor family who can help answer questions about PPCS routines, traditions, and culture, as well as providing an inclusive and welcoming introduction to our school. We would love for returning families to sign up to be mentors to new families. Mentors will help new families with questions about our school and community. Contact us at ppcsparentcrew@gmail.com if you are interested.
Finally, we have given the Parent CREW section of the PPCS website a much needed update. There you can find more information about the Parent CREW, a link to our message board, links to sign up for volunteer opportunities, and a schedule of upcoming meetings and events. You can find the Parent CREW page on the PPCS website under the Family Hub tab: https://palouseprairieschool.org/pcrew/
We look forward to working with you this school year. If you have any questions or want more information, please feel free to contact us at ppcsparentcrew@gmail.com.
Best Regards,
Giselle Hillyer and Amy Ball
