Hello Terry Redlin families,
We are excited to have our students and families back at Terry Redlin Elementary to begin the 2022-2023 school year! Our Open House will take place on Tuesday, August 23rd from 4:30-6:30 pm. Your child’s class/teacher assignments will be posted outside the main entrance before the start of Open House.
Our staff is committed to providing a safe, nurturing learning environment where we believe that all students can learn. We also know that learning encompasses the social/emotional aspect of school and life. As Eagles, we believe all students can SOAR onward and upward. SOAR stands for Self-Control, On-Task, Attitude, and Respect. These four pillars are the foundation to our school and will be woven into all aspects of your child’s experiences at school.
We can’t wait to see all of on August 23rd for Open House and for the first day of school on Thursday, August 25th.
SOAR Onward and Upward!

Get to know Miss. Alissa Hoekstra - Dean of Students
Hello, Eagles! My name is Alissa Hoekstra and I am thrilled to be joining the Terry Redlin staff. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in both Elementary Education and Middle Level Education at the University of Northern Iowa, I came home to Sioux Falls to student teach at Terry Redlin…it feels great to be back in the nest! I then began my career in education as an elementary teacher in the Sioux Falls School District, teaching grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th over the course of several years. During this time, I earned my Master’s degree for Pre-K-12 Principalship at the University of South Dakota and accepted a position as an Admin Intern at Robert Frost Elementary. I am looking forward to serving as the Dean of Students at Terry Redlin, working alongside teachers, students, and parents to help each student achieve his or her goals!
In my free time, I enjoy reading, practicing yoga, and getting outside to bike or hike. My favorite way to spend the weekend is cooking a new recipe and spending time with my family and friends.
