Grades 3-5

We have started our Team Building Unit in PE. Students will be challenged to accomplish a task by working together. Through these challenges students are working on their communication, cooperation and sportsmanship skills. Team building activities can be frustrating but so rewarding in the end! This week classes have been building a "roadway" across the gym. Using limited equipment, students must work together to cross a river and a mountain to get to the other side. Grades K-2: We have introduced scooters, have practiced celebrating other's accomplishments and even went on a Treasure Hunt. Students have practiced working in teams and taking turns to be a good teammate.
Hello! My name is Katia Schmitt, and I am the music teacher at Richmond Grade School. This will be my fourth year teaching General Music at the elementary level. I am so excited to work with the students here, at RGS. This month we have been getting to know each other in music through different songs and games. Grades 3-5 have received an introduction on the Orff Instruments in music and started to play them! In the coming month, they will be continuing to become familiar with the instruments and learn different songs and games to accompany them. Grades 1 and 2 have been learning new songs and games to help with keeping a steady beat. Later this month, they will begin learning about the Orff Instruments as well! Finally, Kindergarten has started a Farm Unit. Every class students take a trip to the farm to meet a new animal and instrument to go with that animal! Kindergarteners get a chance to play the instrument, sing songs, and play fun music games related to each animal. I can't wait to have an amazing year making music with the RGS Musicians!

Car Riders at Dismissal

A reminder to those families in the car rider line - please make sure to place the name card with the student’s last name in your front window. This helps us move the line as quickly as possible. Also, if you need additional time to secure your child or if you are waiting for your child, please pull off to the side past the dumpster. We appreciate these efforts to ensure the efficiency of this process and safety of our students.
