Well soon it will be Christmas! The Pearls and Rubies were super in their Nativity and we are all very proud of them. We all had a great Christmas jumper day with lots of singing and dancing and have lots more to come.
Next week, you will receive an email about a special last day of term so please keep an eye on your emails as we will not be posting this letter on our Facebook group as it must stay top secret!
Have a lovely weekend!
Remember to follow us on Instagram swinefleet_pr and join our school Facebook group.
Have a lovely weekend!
Look at what we have been Learning
Pearls
Over the last few weeks, we have been busy practising and performing our ‘Nativity Play’. We think the children have done extremely well learning all the songs and actions (and some of our children have also learnt and performed their lines too!) A big well done to all the Pearls and Rubies children!
In Pearls class we have been continuing with our phonics lessons, learning a new sound each day. We have also been counting and ordering numbers in maths lessons. We have read ‘The Nativity’ and talked about the meaning of Christmas. In our provision we have been enjoying our ‘Post Office’ role play area, making and writing cards and sending parcels to the North Pole. We have also been using the cutters to make gingerbread men and Christmas biscuits using play dough.
Over the next few weeks, we will be looking forward to some festive treats!
Rubies
Time seems to be flying for Rubies, with Christmas fast approaching.
We've had a visitor arrive in the class, Elfie. He's been busy reporting back to Santa and exploring our classroom. We've seen him have a snowball fight with the teddies. Along with drawing faces on our fruit! He's a very cheeky Elf!
The children's Nativity performances were amazing and made us very proud. We hope the parents and families enjoyed it as much as we did.
In English we have been focusing on the story 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch' we have sequenced and written sentences about the story.
Next week is a very exciting week for us with a trip to Pink Pig Farm. Please remember to wrap up warm as we will be outdoors and to bring a disposable packed lunch.
Diamonds
Time flies so quickly in Diamonds - It’s amazing how much we manage to squeeze into our days!
Firstly, Christmas has well and truly arrived in our class! The children have decorated the classroom, it looks fabulous. An elf has come to visit us and signs have appeared saying “This classroom is under elf surveillance!” we’ve named the elf, Buddy. He’s already been getting up to all sorts of mischief and he’s keeping his eyes on us all. To our surprise, Buddy has recruited a trainee elf, so now we have two!! We’ve named the trainee elf, Elfis.
In English lessons, we have been working on skills such as subordinating conjunctions, similes and adjectives, in preparation for our character descriptions. During maths, we have been working on division – please could children practise their times tables at home. You can also access ‘Hit the Button’ at home, which helps with division facts.
We have been having fun discussing healthy eating with Jordan from Hull FC. He has given us the challenge this week of making a healthy lasagne or pasta bake – please upload your healthy eating recipes and pictures to Seesaw and we can share with everybody in class. Children are currently playing dodge ball and bench ball within PE lessons. Could PE kits be in school every day, please, including an outdoor kit.
On Tuesday, Adrian from East Riding of Yorkshire Council came in to teach us Pedestrian Skills. He was very impressed with our class and Mrs Moffat has said how well the children behaved. I’m very proud of them all, representing Swinefleet Primary School brilliantly, well done.
Yesterday, we enjoyed Christmas Jumper day, and as a special treat, Mick came in with his saxophone and played some amazing songs for us to sing and dance to. It was brilliant! Huge thanks to him.
Next week, on Wednesday, we have our Christmas trip to Pink Pig Farm. Please ensure your child has a winter coat, warm clothing and suitable footwear. Don’t forget a disposable packed lunch. It’s going to be great!
Sapphires
The Sapphires have been busy writing their persuasive leaflets on The Pyramids in Ancient Egypt. All the children are making such an effort to use ambitious vocabulary and vary their sentences. The story of Holes is unfolding and the children are making so many connections and cannot wait to read on! The Sapphires are mastering adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.
During History, there has been some fantastic discussions on why the Ancient Egyptian civilisation ended and whether there will be another civilisation to last as long. Mummifying tomatoes was a fun way to learn about mummification. In Science, the children are continuing to be chemists and have investigated insulation and dissolving a range of materials in warm water. The Sapphires enjoyed creating a vlog about pilgrimages as part of their RE learning. In Computing, the children are investigating camera angles and creating storyboards using Ipads. We are lucky enough to have Hull FC for PE and as well as completing fitness challenges, the children are also creating healthy foods.
December is here!! The cheeky elf is causing havoc in the Sapphires, marking children’s books, taking the angel’s place on the tree, wrecking the reading corner and taping children’s drawers up! It was lovely to watch the Rubies and Pearls do their nativity and lots of the children were joining in with some of the songs. The Sapphires have enjoyed Christmas jumper day and a Christmas singalong. Still two more weeks of exciting events including Pink Pig Farm, Christmas parties, Christmas dinner and a top secret surprise! Please keep reading on Seesaw to get the reading reward in the final week.

Parental Involvement
If you haven't already filled in the survey please do if you have ideas. In January, we are hoping to relaunch our Friends Of Swinefleet Primary School group again as we have a very eager parent and staff members. If you would like to be involved please keep an eye out for an invite to a coffee morning in January or pop us an email.
We have a number of events for parents/families planned in the background but would love to know more about the types of parent events you would like to see us include. We have created a very brief survey to get your opinion on our ideas and there is also the opportunity to share your ideas with us. The survey will take no more than a couple of minutes and can be accessed using the button below.
Our Mums, Dads and Grandparents to lunch events will take place again this year (see the Diary Dates section further below).
Free Dental Checks
If you need a paper copy please let the office know as we will accept forms next week.
Reading Reward - Final Push
It is the final push to get your reads in for our Christmas inspired Reading Reward. Reading Reward day is now a day earlier on Wednesday 20th December so if your child is one short this will be considered.
The levels for reading are:
Bronze - 15 reads
Silver - 20 reads
Gold - 30 reads
Reading clubs are worth 3 reads and can be booked through the club link in this newsletter for lunchtime and/or after school.
Reads ideally should be logged on Tapestry or Seesaw so please contact a member of your child's teaching team if having difficulties and they will be happy to help. If your child is younger sharing a story with them counts as a read this means that it is accessible to all.
All Seesaw logins have been sent out (please speak to staff if having any issues). Diamonds and Sapphires children should only use the codes sent out on Friday as the first class set up had a glitch.
Most Tapestry accounts are live for Pearls however new starters will be linked by Mrs Clarkson on Monday so please see her if you have any issues.
P.E
Please ensure that P.E kit is in school all week.
Residential
Remember our Residential deposits are due for anyone in Years 4, 5 & 6 so that we gage numbers for our trip in July. Please see Parentmail.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Drop-Ins
If you would like to speak to Mrs Thurlow regarding any SEND needs then she is available every Tuesday morning and will be visible on the playground. Please also feel free to speak to your child's teaching team.
Attendance and why it is Important
Below are some leaflets explaining the importance of school attendance. There is some advice to support high attendance and staff are always willing to help so please speak to us should you need any help.
If your child is off school staff will ensure that any work is kept for them and then can be sent home so that they do not fall behind.
Please ensure that you let us know if your child is unwell so that we can record this as authorised.
