What are we up to this month?
It is November, so of course, our theme for the month is GRATITUDE. As a way to celebrate gratitude, Liberty High School will be participating in the the district-wide Small World Adopt an Angel program. As a campus, Liberty will be adopting over 40 angels for whom we will purchase gifts for the holiday season. The adopted angels are local FISD children whose families cannot financially afford to celebrate the holidays in the traditional sense, so we are all here to help! The program will be run through second period, B day classes. In early November, 2B classes will receive their Angel's wish list and will have until November 19th to purchase the gifts.
Our Coffee with the Counselors this month will discuss College Admissions 101, November 14 at 8 AM. This is open to all parents. Please RSVP if you plan to attend!
ATTENTION SENIORS!
HEY JUNIORS, YOU TOO!

Gratitude Questions to Ask Yourself or Your Family
- What we NOTICE in our lives for which we can be grateful
- How we THINK about why we have been given those things
- How we FEEL about the things we have been given
- What we DO to express appreciation in turn
Discussing these parts with your family can help them think more about gratitude. Here are some examples of NOTICE-THINK-FEEL-DO questions that you can ask others about their gratitude experiences, whether they are getting an actual present from a relative, receiving kindness or other intangibles from their friends, or eating a tasty meal.
NOTICE:
- What have you been given or what do you already have in your life that you are grateful for?
- Is there a gift behind the gift you are grateful for, like someone thinking or caring about you enough to give you the gift?
THINK:
- Why do you think you received this gift?
- Do you think you owe the giver something in return?
- Do you think you earned the gift because of something you did yourself?
- Do you think the gift was something the giver had to give you?
FEEL:
- Does it make you feel happy to get this gift?
- What does that feel like inside?
- What about the gift makes you feel happy?
DO:
- Is there a way you want to show how you feel about this gift?
- Does the feeling you have about this gift make you want to share that feeling by giving something to someone else?

SUICIDE PREVENTION
If you have a friend that you believe may be contemplating suicide, there are actions you can take to help them. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
Let's Celebrate!
Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu). It is believed that on this day Rama returned to his people after 14 years of exile during which he fought and won a battle against the demons and the demon king, Ravana.
Diwali was observed October 27th this year.
It is celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
Diwali is also known as Deepavali, Dipavali, Dewali, Deepawali, or the Festival of Lights. It is celebrated in October or November each year. Diwali celebrations can last for about five days.
We want to hear from you!
