Thompson Friday Forecast

From the Principal... Matt Clark
Good afternoon Thompson community. This has been quite the interesting start to our second semester. I feel frustrated, just like I did last Friday while attempting to move that heavy snow, by the lack of ability to establish momentum. I know that in the next week or two we will get back into our routines, but the lack of consistent, five-day weeks has left us feeling like we’re starting over multiple times in 2024.
As we prepare for an awesome second semester and the full weeks ahead at Thompson, there are a few things I'd like to ask of our parents and guardians. First off, teachers have shared with me that their supplies of pencils and tissue are running low after the fall semester. If you have the means and would like to help by donating, we would very much appreciate your generosity.
Secondly, we are planning to review student expectations on the following topics in the coming weeks: 1) getting to class on time, 2) appropriate hallway behavior, and 3) respectful and responsible behavior in the cafeteria. While we plan to reiterate what is expected of Thompson students, I'd also ask that you have conversations with them at home regarding the topics which will be discussed at school. Consider it an open invite to join the ever-exclusive, eye-roll club. I received my membership years ago for asking my (current) 8th grader questions such as: Are you getting to class on time? Do you keep your hands to yourself in the hallway? If you spill or drop something in the hallway, are you cleaning it up?, and do you clean up your lunch table after you finish eating? If you ask those questions in succession you may get an eye-roll the likes of which have never been seen, but that's just their way of telling you they love ya (at least that's what my wife and I tell ourselves).
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and Roll Thunder!
