Purpose of the Fieler Files........to inform, teach, and encourage the pursuit of reflective practice
Apple Training Next Steps
Thank you to everyone for stepping up and doing whatever it took to cover classes and support teachers as they attended training. It was so much fun to see you collaborating and trying things with the iPads. Your excitement was stronger than your fear of failure. That willingness to take a risk is the first step to embracing a fail forward mindset. A strong learning experience through effective PD always leads to action. What new action have you taken or have planned to take as a result of your learning? It does not have to be a huge step, just a small next step.

Job Well Done!
Thank you to LaToya and Kim for an outstanding presentation at the Board meeting. They clearly spent a lot of time preparing a very comprehensive presentation. We had a group of parents and children there representing, and several parents spoke about the impact of our early kindergarten program. Although it was a late night, I could not have been prouder as they presented. Thanks also to Natalie for being there as well!!
Walkthrough Focus for This Week
Amy and I will continue to do domain two walkthroughs by focusing on lesson plans. We will also be focusing domain one walkthroughs around engagement. Remember engagement is NOT the same thing as compliance. Engagement is about children being actively involved in meaningful learning. During these visits we will be looking for two things: how many students are engaged during the ten minutes we are in the room and the teacher's response when students are not engaged. Literacy leader Christopher Lehman sums it up when he says, "Engagement isn't a thing; it is the only thing."
This Week's Challenge
Respond to one thing you read in the newsletter that made you think or challenged you to act. Jeans passes will follow.
Just a reminder about jeans passes...they have expiration dates. Make sure you check the date. Your pass must be visible on the day you wear jeans.
Differentiated Groups
Beginning tomorrow for the next four weeks, Amy, Kristen, Kristina, and I will be leading math groups in third and fourth grade. Kristen, Kristina, Brooke, and Amy Hendrickson attended an all day PD to use assessment data to divide students across the grade level in order to enrich, maintain and remediate those check plus standards that will be heavily tested on Applied Skills. Fourth grade groups will be from 8:30-9:00 and third grade groups will meet from 11:30-12:00. Please follow the same procedures if you need assistance-call the office. Tara and Tina will reach out to Annette and/or Jose.
