September 2023
Principal Corner
Primary Families,
Our year is off to an amazing start! This has been one of the best starts to a new school
year, even with the crazy heat. I wanted to take a minute and let you know about the
exciting things we are working on this year at the Primary. Last year, our staff worked
hard to create a new mission statement for our school. We spent several hours talking
and working through our new mission. We landed on “Ensure the Growth of Every Child
at High Levels”. We believe this in our core of Pea Ridge Primary. We have been saying it
daily during our morning announcements. Ask your child if they can remember our
school mission statement.
Our staff also created our behavior matrix with the word S.O.A.R. Our teachers have
been working diligently on reminding our students to S.O.A.R.(Stay safe, Own a positive
attitude, Act responsibility, and Respectful Actions). This matrix gives details on how to
S.O.A.R. in each area of our school.
Last but not least, we have begun our journey into Visible Learning. John Hattie’s Visible
Learning approach is based on the idea that teachers educate the students about what
they are supposed to learn, how to learn, and how they can assess their progress. We
had our first day of professional development in Visible Learning in July. We are excited
to dive deeper into Visible Learning and see the impact it has on our students.
There are a lot of fun events planned for September. Keep an eye out on our webpage
for more details/information on these events as they become available.
Don't forget that NO students will be allowed to leave with a parent as a walker without a walker tag. Walker tags are only for students who are walking home. All other students are either dismissed as a car rider in the car line or are dismissed on a bus. We are having a big problem with parents parking at the facility or football field and walking up. This causes issues with our busses and student safety.
Sincerely,
Darah Bennett

Do you ever wonder what the very BEST way is to stay connected to the fun and learning in our school?
We are so excited to introduce our new and improved District Website where you can find information
about our district and individual campuses in one convenient location! There is even an app you can
install on your smartphone, so our school is literally at your fingertips! You can find out information
about special events, our calendar, important forms, breakfast/lunch menus, and best of all…pictures of
all the fun and learning going on in our buildings daily! If you have students in more than one building,
you can simply move between schools without having to go to different FB pages, etc. We are SO
excited about the connections this will bring to our school family! *Over the next month, we will be
moving all posts from FB to the website! We don’t want you to miss a thing!
Now that you are connected, have you ever wanted to volunteer but didn’t know where to start? Would you like to be involved but think you can’t because of your busy schedule? There are so many ways to be involved and I would love to help you find a fit that works for you! Please contact me at dhamilton@pearidgek12.com!
Nurse News-Nurse Rhonda
I want to thank you all for the clothes donations. A few things we are still needing are size 5 and 6 boys underwear and 5 and 6 boys shorts.
Please remember to send in the physical form for your Kinder if you have not done so already. I have several kinders that do not have a physical in their chart.
The deadline for vaccinations is October 31st. Your child will need to be up to date on all Immunizations by then or will be sent home.
I have sent out messages and will print letters this week. If you are unsure please check with your child’s doctor.
It’s that time of year for the flu, strep throat and covid. We are seeing some of everything. Remember to encourage your child to wash their hands!
For Covid Students who test positive may return to school as indicated on the Medical return to school note and they must be fever free without medication for 24 hours. Any absence that may exceed 3 days, medical documentation is strongly encouraged.

Color Run
GET EXCITED!!! The color run is coming to the Primary! Students can raise funds by asking families and friends to sponsor them with a flat donation. Our goal is for each student to raise $75. Students will have an opportunity to earn a number of thank you gifts and awards based on their participation in the Color Run. Funds raised will go to help us purchase a new sound system for assemblies and continued professional development in Visible Learning.
The Color Run will be held during the morning of September 29th prior to the Homecoming Parade . All students are invited to participate in the color run, regardless of funds raised. A permission slip must be completed to run.
Families are welcome to run with your child. Please bring your ID and check in at the office on race day.
Pledges will begin on September 18 and close on the 28th. September 29th is race day (prior to the Homecoming Parade).
More information will be coming home in the next week.
This and That
We are still having trouble in our car lines. In addition to parents parking and walking up to get their child, students are being let out of their car before the sidewalk in the 1/2nd grade line. Please don't let your child out of your car until you reach the sidewalk. This ensures that your student will make it into the building safely.
Parent are always welcome to come eat lunch with their child. Parents are not allow to have students other than their own eat at the table with them or share any outside food.
