MARCH - Celebrate National Reading Month
APRIL - National Library Month and Poetry Month
School Library Month is the American Association of School Librarians' (AASL) celebration of school librarians and their programs. Every April school librarians are encouraged to host activities to help their school and local community celebrate the essential role that strong school library programs play in transforming learning. The 2018 theme is Making Connections at Your School Library and the official hashtag is #AASLslm.

Staff and students can access the library catalog and ebooks through the PHS library catalog.
Computer/Laptop E-reading Instructions:
- Go to the Plainfield High School Website and click on Media Center - Library Catalog/eBooks or use the url address - https://pcsc.follettdestiny.com/
- Click on Plainfield High School.
- Login with your username and password (same login as tablet).
- Search for the book you would like to read
- To check out an ebook, click on the title and then choose "open."
- Click on "Book" to Check Out Title.
Books are returned automatically after 3 weeks.

Quiet Zone
Makerspaces: Virtual Reality, Robotics and Coding
- Google Cardboard - virtual reality that includes travel locations, colleges, rollercoasters and more (also located in guidance for virtual college trips)
- Sphero - computer coding with a robot
- LittleBits - robotics
- SnapCircuits - robotics
Students can use these makerspaces before school, after school, during lunch and during class time if sent with a pass from a teacher.
*Other makerspaces include: coloring, legos, chess/checkers, 3D puzzle, creation, blackout poetry and dry erase station.
Goal(s) for the 2017-2018 School Year
1. Working with teachers on co-teaching/individualized instruction of students in the media center learning environment.
2. Maintain an inviting learning environment that promotes individual learning with 1:1 technology.
