New Standards Based Report Card
We have adopted a new Standards Based Report Card (SBRC) this year in grades 1-5. The purpose is to clearly communicate student progress and performance towards Massachusetts’ grade-level standards and expectations to students and families. The SBRC ensures that student learning is measured against a consistent set of academic criteria. Students are assessed using end-of-year grade-level expectations. It is appropriate that most students will be "Approaching" for most of the school year. They will receive an indication of their performance as outlined in the chart below.
Performance Indicators
Students are assessed using the end-of-year grade-level standards.
Exceeding: In addition to meeting the end of the year standard, the student is able to self-initiate in-depth inferences and applications that extend beyond what was taught. the standard consistently and independently.
Meeting: The student meets the end of year standard consistently and independently.
Approaching: The student is approaching the end of year standard.
Supported: The student relies on support to make progress towards meeting the end of the year standard.
Not taught/Assessed: This standard was not taught or not assessed.
All subject areas, including 21st Century Learning Qualities, will be assessed using these performance indicators.
November Half Days Surround Care
November's school schedule will include 3 early release days to facilitate Parent-Teacher Conferences. To accommodate parents schedules, we offer the opportunity for your child to remain at school after dismissal as part of our Surround Care program at the Spring Street School for Kindergarten, at the Rose L. MacDonald School for grades 1-3, and at the Howard School for grades 4-6. The fee is $9/hr. Students must bring their own lunch or pre-order a bagged lunch from the cafeteria (food service link on the district website). You may pick up your child at any time before the closing time of 6 pm. A snack/drink will be provided later in the day as well.
To be sure there is adequate staff available, we ask that you complete the registration below no later than 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 15th.
The early release days are: Friday, November 18
Monday, November 21
Tuesday, November 22
There will be no Surround Care on Wednesday, November 23rd.
***Please complete this registration form even if your child is a regular attendee in the program so that we know your plans for the day. A separate registration is required for each day you plan to have your child attend.
Box Tops
The Box Tops for Education program transitioned to a new digital format. You can now scan your shopping receipts from any store (like Market Basket, Trucchi’s, Target, Walmart, CVS, Staples, etc.) to earn money for our school. Every little bit helps our school! Click here to download the app today or send your receipts to school. We are happy to scan them for you!
RLM Families, you are off to a STRONG start on our Box Top fundraiser this year. We are pretty close to matching the funds we raised last year already! That is great because the transition to the digital format was a hard one for us and we have not been raising as much money as we have when we clipped out Box Tops. So THANK YOU for committing to the new digital format!
There is a great bonus opportunity going on right now, along with special incentives for our Target and Walmart shoppers. Please spread the word for others to download the app and follow your lead!

Wildcat Cafe
Greetings from the Wildcat Café!
A few highlights for November...on the menu 11/9th, roast turkey with all the trimmings in honor of Thanksgiving. Also, special snack/breakfast menu items will be available for the early dismissal days before Thanksgiving break.
Click on WB Food Services to find November's menus. Looking for information on nutrition and fitness? Check out the Nutrition Education and Nutrition and Fitness Tips tabs for lots of great content!
Students in grades 2 and 3 are now offered additional snack items for sale. All items served meet strict state and federal nutrition standards. Money can be added to a student’s account two ways:
· Cash or a check can be handed in to your student's teacher in the morning. Please make sure it's labeled with your child's full name.
· Electronic payments using MySchoolBucks. You will need your student’s 10-digit student ID (SASID#) to set up an account. Even if you don’t add money using MySchoolBucks, it allows you to monitor cafeteria transactions until they graduate!
Food Assistance- If you or someone you know is having trouble making ends meet, Project Bread Food Source Hotline is a great resource. West Bridgewater residents facing food insecurity can also utilize the West Bridgewater Food Pantry.
We are still looking for additional substitute cafeteria help. Interested? Please contact Ann Marie Grinder, Food Service Director at agrinder@wbridgewater.com or (508)894-1220.
