Blue Hills News
From the Desk of the Principal - December 9, 2021
Dear Blue Hills Families,
Covid-19 Reminders:
As you know, there has been a recent increase in Covid-19 cases across our area, particularly after the Thanksgiving Break. Thank you for your support as we balance being fully open with keeping everyone safe.
- Any individual who tests positive for Covid-19 must remain out of school according to the Department of Public Health and school guidelines.
- Nurse Gainey is our point person for covid matters, and has been working tirelessly to contact families when issues arise.
- Fully vaccinated individuals are no longer required to quarantine or get tested if they are a close contact with someone who tests positive. However, they are required to monitor symptoms and quarantine/test should symptoms arise.
- The most important mitigation strategies we have at school are mask-wearing, high levels of vaccination, and our fully updated HVAC system. We have been very patient with mask wearing "fatigue" this year, but ask for your assistance in making sure students have masks and are wearing masks while in school.
National Honor Society: Please see the information letter about our local William A. Dwyer Chapter of the National Honor Society (below.)
Past Reminders:
Co-op
It is not too early for juniors to begin thinking about Co-op opportunities! Juniors will be eligible for Co-op on February 7th. Please have your child contact Ms. Poliseno to discuss Co-op.
Why Co-op? Earn and learn in real-world settings! Since September 20, the students out on Co-op have earned over $65,000 collectively, all while growing and learning in their fields.
Extra Help
Now that Term 1 is over and Report Cards are published, it is important that students who are struggling in classes reach out for extra help from teachers. Teachers stay after at least twice per week, and would love to provide additional support for any student who needs it. Late buses run at 3:10 Monday-Thursday. Please take advantage of extra help times. Parents/Guardians, please reach out to teachers if you have questions on how to best support your student's learning.
AM Drop-Off/PM Pick-Up
Just a reminder: Please do NOT stop in front of the Main Entrance of the school to drop off or pick up your student during the morning and afternoon arrival/departure times. The Main Entrance is busy and congested, with traffic coming from several directions - we need to keep it clear. Thank you for your cooperation.
