ALICE Drill

This morning we conducted our fall ALICE drill. Our students and staff did a great job following our procedures and we debriefed after the drill. Thank you to the Chelmsford Police and Fire Departments for partnering with us. While we hope that we would never have to use these procedures, our preparedness is important to keeping a safe school. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Early Release Day on Thursday, November 17 for Conferences

Conferences

We are at the beginning of family-teacher conference season. These conferences are an important piece in ongoing home-school communication and family involvement. The Harvard Family Research Project from the Harvard School of Education highlights three themes when approaching family-teacher conferences. Conferences should be a two-way conversation where both sides share information about the student. These conferences place an emphasis on learning. Finally conferences will most likely contain opportunities and challenges. They will include positive feedback and also areas for improvement. Home to school communication is a predictor for positive outcomes for students and schools and we at Byam look at our conference times with you as a way to strengthen our partnership.

Tier 2 Opportunities

As part of our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) system at Byam, we will be offering targeted opportunities to provide additional supports for students in the area of social/emotional development. These supports are known as tier 2, that are based in all of our tier 1 all school supports (ie. roars, 3 R's, expectation push weeks) but offer some extra opportunities for students to practice skills. More information will be coming shortly on these supports.

Picture Re-Takes

Our picture re-take day will be Tuesday, November 29th.

Geskus Studio has sent us the following information:

ABSENT STUDENTS: If you are having your picture taken for the first time because you were absent on Picutre Day, have your photo taken on Retake Day. You will receive your photo proof after the event.

RETAKE STUDENTS: If you received your picture package and are unsatisfied, just return your package and proof sheet to the photographers on Retake Day and have your photo retaken. The package will be replaced without cost.

**When the proof is received, there will be code on the proof image. Use this code to order packages through GeskusPrint.com.

Byam Indoor Recess Recycling Project!

With colder weather quickly upon us, and more days of indoor recess for students, we would like to connect wish lists from teachers with donations from families that have outgrown using any of the below items. Students or families may bring any donated items below to our Byam office during the school day, and we will match up donated items to classrooms in need of these additional indoor recess activities. Thank you!
