Welcome Back and Happy New Year - Exciting Times Await!
Dear DES School Community,
Welcome back! We hope this message finds you refreshed and ready for the exciting adventures that 2024 holds. As we embark on this new year together, our enthusiasm is fueled by the incredible spirit of our school community.
The past year was a testament to our collective strength, resilience, and commitment to learning. Now, as we reopen our doors on January 2, 2024, we look forward to continuing this journey of growth and discovery.
As we step into the new year, may it be filled with joy, laughter, and countless opportunities for learning and growth. On behalf of Mrs. Dessert, Mrs. Lima, and the entire school staff, we extend our heartfelt wishes for a Happy New Year.
Your thoughts and reflections are important to us. Should you have any questions or if there's anything you'd like to share, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Dessert at ldessert@drregional.org or Mrs. Lima at klima@drregional.org.
Here's to a fantastic return to school and an extraordinary 2024!

Mrs. Dessert, Mrs. Lima, and the School Staff 🌟🎉
🌦️ Friendly Reminder for Parents:🧤🧣 Ensure Your Child is Cozy and Ready!"
As we welcome the winter season, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Outdoor recess are scheduled for temperatures down to 20 degrees. However, if the wind chill makes it feel colder, we'll be relocating indoors for recess.
Kindly dress your children in warm layers, suitable jackets, along with hats and mittens to ensure their comfort during outdoor play. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for assisting us in ensuring that our students are well-prepared to enjoy the winter weather with smiles on their faces. Stay warm and enjoy the season!

Please see the Superintendent's request for volunteers for the District's DRiving Toward 2030 Initiative. If you recall, the District started the Strategic Planning process last year by developing the Portrait of a Graduate (POG). I am very pleased to share that the next phase of our Strategic Planning initiative is on schedule for a proposal to be made to School Committee in late May/early June. Both our Strategic Planning Committee and our DLT have christened this process “DRiving toward 2030.”
I want to salute all who have been collaborative in this process since the Portrait of a Graduate kicked off in the fall of 2022. Now, I am asking everyone else to consider participating.
We are now at the stage of assembling subcommittees to build out the five foundational elements of the “DRiving Toward 2030” plan.
Participating is optional; and in my opinion, it’s not a heavy lift. We are probably looking at a maximum of three evening meetings over a 4-month period.
If you are willing to serve on a subcommittee, please take 2-3 minutes prior to January 8 at Noon to complete this Google Form. We will be creating subcommittees for each of the 5 focus areas (see below) and would like to know your top 3 subcommittee preferences.
Please be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, January 24 at 6pm for our next in-person DRiving Toward 2030 meeting.
DRiving Toward 2030 Subcommittees
Funding and Facilities (Resources) - Sustainable fiscal health, facilities, and resources
Safe & Healthy Learning Environment - Cultures that welcome learning and school environments where each scholar thrives
Curriculum, Instruction, & Learning Outcomes - High-quality curriculum and instruction that results in future-ready learning outcomes
