This Week at Brookside...

Week 1, September 18, 2020

First Full Week Completed at Brookside!!

Thank you to all of our amazing students, teachers, staff, and parents for making this past week part of an incredible opening of the school year! We are living in a moment of history that will be recorded for ages. This week was full of ups and downs but seeing the magic of the first little feet entering our doorways since we closed back in March, was an emotional event.

Please make sure that your child has a properly fitted mask, as well as an extra mask in their backpack in case they forget one. Additionally, we have been advised by the health department that "Gaiters" are not acceptable for school use.

This past week, our main goals were Building Community and Getting Acclimated/Getting to Know "You." As we move forward, teachers will will continue the important work in these areas as we are establishing a healthy balance between computer based and "pencil/paper" activities.

As we look towards next week let's all please remember the words of Holly Branson...

"Just imagine how different the world could be if we all spoke to everyone with respect and kindness."

We did it! We started a new and different school year!

All of us at Brookside are proud of your children for wearing their masks and washing their hands often.

Many changes are in place for the health and safety of everyone in our community. Let's continue to keep up the great teamwork to minimize the spread of illness.

Important reminders:

Parents, please conduct this Daily COVID-19 Home Screening for Students each morning to determine whether your child should attend school in-person or remain home.
Contact the absence line and report all illness symptoms/reason for absence. Call 201-664-0880 and choose option 1 as soon as you are aware you child will be absent, by 9 a.m. the latest
Please see Return To School Videos for reminders about wearing cloth face coverings, washing hands and staying home when sick.

Food Service Information!

Parents please know that you need to pick all day NOT full day remote when pre-ordering lunches.

ALL MEALS MUST BE PREORDERED USING THE DISTRICT’S PREORDER SYSTEM at Payschools Central by 6:00 a.m. the day of pickup.

Meals will be distributed as follows:

GROUP 1 STUDENTS: Students will be served Lunch on the days they attend school. On Mondays they will be given meals for Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday they will be given meals for Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

GROUP 2 STUDENTS: Students will be served Lunch on the days they attend school. On Tuesdays they will be given meals for Monday and Tuesday. On Thursday they will be given meals for Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

FULL REMOTE STUDENTS: Students will select to pick up their Meals at 1 of the 4 Elementary School Locations. They will be able to pick up their meals twice a week from 12:30 – 1:30. On Monday they will be given meals for Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday they will be given meals for Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
