Message from Dr. Ephlin, Principal
I have so many things to be Thankful for this year. I am Thankful for my family. I have two amazing daughters, one who was just married and one who is now a Senior in college and a terrific husband; I am also thankful for the students and staff at Hernandez Middle School. I am fortunate to work with a talented group of men and women who give of themselves everyday so that our students, your children, receive a great education. I am thankful for the students at Hernandez. They bring me joy, I look forward to coming to school daily and one of the big reasons is the students. I hope everyone has a safe and fantastic break!!

Notes from the Nurse
Attention families with 8th grade boys. The Health Services team will be at Hernandez on November 29, 2022 to conduct spinal screenings for 8th grade boys. Please have your student avoid bulky clothing, layering would be ideal since the weather is colder so that a t-shirt is the bottom layer to aid in more accurate spinal screening. We sincerely wish you a Happy Thanksgiving Break.

Five Ways to Teach Study Skills
Middle school is the perfect time to plant the studying seed. As students’ progress
through their education, studying becomes increasingly important. No single study
strategy works for everyone. Whether it is reviewing notes for an hour or spending three
hours rereading slideshows, every student can find ways to improve their study skills.
