Winter Wonderland literacy event returning to Planet Ford Stadium on Dec. 8
Spring ISD’s Winter Wonderland event is set to return to Planet Ford Stadium on Friday, Dec. 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The free annual event – first held in 2015 – welcomes hundreds of area families and Spring ISD students for an evening of literacy-themed activities, games and holiday fun. The district expects around 2,000 people to attend the event.
Attendees can expect a variety of themed activity stations for students and families, designed and run by Spring ISD departments and their staff.
As is the case every year, each child who attends has the opportunity to take home a brand-new, gift-wrapped book of their very own to enjoy over the holidays and into the new year. However, this year – thanks to a partnership between Spring ISD and the Spring chapter of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) – that will be supersized.
Through the Reading Opens the World program, the Spring American Federation of Teachers received a grant for 40,000 books and a $10,000 First Book Marketplace credit to select and purchase high-quality, diverse books to spread the joy of reading and support students and educators. The Spring AFT chapter will donate the books to Spring ISD.

ATTENDANCE
Our school day begins at 7:10 AM every day. We open the doors to students at 6:40 AM for breakfast. Please be sure to have your child/children here on time. Students who are consistently tardy are at a clear disadvantage and remember that three tardies equal one absence.
If your child is sick, please report the absence by 9:00 AM by calling the attendance office at 281-891-7260.
The state of Texas has a mandatory Attendance Requirement of 90%. Please know that under the Compulsory Attendance Law, all students must be in attendance at least 90% of the time they've been enrolled in a public school. In order to receive credit for a final grade for a class, a student is required to attend class 90 percent of the days a class is offered regardless of whether the student's absences are excused [see FEA] or unexcused.
