Our students and staff really got back into the swing of things this past week! It was so great to see so many students trying out for our sports teams and we can't wait to support them in their seasons ahead! Congratulations to all of our athletes that will be representing NCLA!

There have already been lots of amazing things happening in our classrooms! In science our students built hydrogen and oxygen molecule models with toothpicks and marshmallows and collected/analyzed water samples from the pond. In art our kids were learning how to sketch out animals using reference images. During math our students have been working hard to recall all the prior information that they need to know for this year while being introduced to new material. Our social studies classes explored primary vs. secondary sources and how to use a scale to determine the distance between places on a map. During english classes the students built text-to-text connections using their summer reading novel and identified themes across texts. Our chorus and band classes are already sounding wonderful !

My Hot Lunch Box is OFFICIALLY open for ordering! Lunches will start being served in SEPTEMBER! I am attaching lots of information on how to order, frequently asked questions, etc. A few reminders if you don't want to read everything!
- Orders MUST be placed and/or cancelled by NOON the day before.
- If your student wakes up sick and you still want to receive their lunch (because it is past the deadline to cancel), you must call the front office and alert us. We will set aside the lunch but it must be picked up that day. (We don't have fridge space to keep food overnight.)

Please pay attention to our 3 DAY RULE. All excuse notes, dr. notes, etc. MUST be turned in within 3 days of the absence to be accepted. If your student is out sick, please email frontoffice@thencla.org and let us know! We appreciate the help!!!

Elementary and Middle School Class Attendance:
Students with more than ten (10) absences in a year, whether excused or unexcused, may be retained at the current grade level unless an Attendance Waiver Request is granted. Students should be present on time and remain in class until dismissal. Written excuses from parents are necessary for late arrivals, early departures, and absences (due within 3 days of absence).
