As out-of-state travel for unvaccinated individuals pose an elevated risk for schools, we are asking all families to comply with the following steps.

Step 1 - Notify Waikīkī School or your travel plans

Kindly email your child's teacher, along with school administration (ryan@waikikischool.org or whitney@waikikischool.org) the following:

• Destination of travel
• Date of departure and date of arrival back in Honolulu.

Step 2 - Apply for a Exemption from Quarantine.

Under Governor Ige’s emergency proclamation, all travelers entering the State of Hawaiʻi must self-quarantine for 10 days, unless they obtain an exemption. For Waikīkī School students who are all unvaccinated at the time of this writing, please complete the following.

• Uploading a negative COVID-19 test result from Hawaii's Trusted Testing and Travel Partners, found on https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel-partners/ prior to departure

Note

• Negative COVID-19 tests and vaccinations are verified by labs. Submitting a falsified test is a crime and will be prosecuted.

Step 3 - Complete the State of Hawaii Health Questionnaire 24-hours prior to your flight back to Honolulu.

You will receive an email with a QR code that will be scanned by a screener at the airport.

Step 4 - Have your unvaccinated child stay home from school back in Hawaii for THREE days.

Step 5 - On the third day, have your child take a COVID test.

A post-travel test is a Hawaii Department of Education requirement. With negative test results in hand, please email your child's teacher copies of both the pre-travel and post-travel results.

With everyone's generosity through Waikīkī School's PTO, the school was able to purchase tent structures to increase outdoor learning spaces and provide shade during our lunchtime periods. The school was also able to purchase 14 picnic tables, which should make its debut shortly. Thank you for everyone's support throughout this first quarter of school

Mahalo to the Muir family for their generous donation of a picnic table! They were able to make a family project by painting it at home and then delivering it to Waikīkī School. The table will be put to good use.

On September 30, the Rotary Club of Waikīkī generously donated $1000.00. The Rotary Club of Waikīkī has been tremendous partners over the years with their annual rummage sale in our school's cafeteria and their outstanding support of literacy with their dictionary and hardcover book donations. Thank you Rotary Club of Waikīkī for supporting the keiki here at the Mindful School!
