A Message from Christine Taylor, Lyons Elementary School Principal
Happy New Year 2024! It’s a “Winter Wonderland'' at Lyons Elementary School. Upon their return after winter break, students participated in ROAR reset lessons with their classroom teachers. The LES PTA, LES Student Council, and LES Lyons Teachers Association are working closely to plan exciting events for the months ahead. Ms. Caruso offers weekly instrumental lessons, as well as band rehearsals after school. Under the direction of Mrs. Barrigar, the LES chorus did an excellent job singing at our MLK Assembly on January 12th. Mid-year local assessments in Mathematics and English Language Arts will take place during the months of January and February. These assessments will provide a current level of performance for all students and give teachers the individualized information they need to support each student’s path to academic growth and proficiency. Students will bring report cards home on Friday, February 2nd. Please reach out to your child’s teacher for specific student information or to set up a mid-year conference if desired.
LES January Highlight: Family Literacy Night
Thank you to everyone who attended LES Family Literacy Night on Wednesday, January 17th. A special thank you to our volunteers from Our Community Reads who read five books to the students, and provided three free books for each student. About 20 students and their families attended. A huge thank you to the LES PTA who provided hot cocoa and cookies as well.
