STUDENT SAFETY AT DROP OFF/PICK UP TIMES!
To help make our drop off and pick up areas safer and more efficient, we will have a new drive through process in the South end parent loop/parking lot.
Click here for a map and directions to help keep things moving smoothly during the busy morning and afternoon drop off and pick up times.
Click here for more information on parent loop instructions and dismissal and arrival information.
During drop off/pick up in the Parent Loop/Student exit zone:
* Please have your child exit the vehicle on the PASSENGER SIDE ONLY
* DRIVERS ARE TO REMAIN IN THEIR VEHICLES. This avoids people exiting into the traffic lane as well as taking extra time.
* PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITHIN 1 MINUTE, if the process is going to take longer, please pull into the stall in the parking lot. (not the fire lane)
* PULL AHEAD AS FAR AS POSSIBLE in the lane, a few extra steps for your child to walk is ok!
* For safety reasons, refrain from using your cell phone while in the pick up/drop off area.
* DO NOT GO AROUND A VEHICLE THAT IS currently loading/unloading.
* DO NOT STOP IN THE CROSS WALK to drop or pick up your child
When using the parking lot or street side areas for drop off/pick up:
* If you parked in a parking lot stall, walk your child across the lot to the sidewalk.
* If using the street, your child must use the crosswalk or be accompanied by an adult.
* DO NOT STOP IN THE CROSS WALK to drop or pick up your child
* For safety reasons, refrain from using your cell phone while in the pick up/drop off area.
Survey Completion Reminder!
The Waunakee Community School District cares deeply about our students and staff. We are always looking for ways to improve their educational experience and form a stronger partnership with you - parents, guardians, family members, and community members! To help us accomplish this goal, we are conducting a community survey to help us understand and gather input regarding district operations and educational facility needs.
We have hired School Perceptions, an independent education research firm, to conduct and ensure all responses are kept confidential. We are asking that parents, guardians, staff, community members, etc. respond to a survey that was emailed as well as mailed to our school community.
To ensure data integrity, each survey invitation/link code can only be used once. You can access the survey through your email invitation. The survey access number will not identify you; it simply links you to the District’s survey. However, the software is able to track survey completion via the link code and encourage participation via non-respondents. School Perceptions’ privacy policy guarantees your email address will not be used/shared for any purpose other than the contracted survey.
The survey will be open through April 25 at 5:00 p.m. If you did not receive an email invitation to complete the survey, please check your “spam/junk” folder and then contact Steve Summers via email (stevesummers@waunakee.k12.wi.us) or Anne Blackburn via email (wcsd_communications@waunakee.k12.wi.us) for assistance.

Personal Technology Device Reminder
We are aware that a number of students may be provided a personal technology device (cell phone, smart watch, or other electronic communication) for various family reasons. We do want to provide a reminder of our handbook language regarding the usage and storage of these devices at school. We appreciate your support of reminding your child of the expectations of their personal device when at school.
Personal Technology Devices
Students are prohibited from using personal electronic devices during the school day. This includes, but not limited to, cell phones, smart watches, iPods, and other electronic communication or entertainment equipment during the school day. However, students may use portable media players for instructional purposes if they have specific permission from the supervising teacher. Students who bring any of the above items to school must leave them turned off and store them in their locker, cubbie or backpacks. The school is not responsible for the security of such items and may examine electronic devices such as smart watches and cellular phones and search their contents if there is reason to believe that school policies or rules have been violated. Use of a cellular phone is subject to the provisions of the Waunakee Community School District Acceptable Use Policy (443.6 Electronic Communication Devices - Students). If students choose to use cell phones, smart watches, or electronic devices outside of the guidelines in the handbook or board policy they will be subject to restorative practices and logical administrative consequences.
The district may examine the cellular phone and search its contents if there is a reason to believe the school policies, rules or regulations have been violated. (Legal Ref.: Section 118.258 Wisconsin Statutes)
