Congratulations to Cougar Cheer
The Caldwell High School Cheer Team is adding some hardware to the Cougar trophy case. The team recently took home 5th place during the State Cheer Competition. In addition, the team took 3rd place in both the Show and Stunt categories.
Congratulations on all your hard work! We are so proud of you - Go Cougs!!
STARBASE Idaho
Fifth grade students from across the District are participating in the STARBASE Idaho Program. This five week program provides innovative learning experiences not typically found in a 5th grade school setting. This program helps foster academic success in STEM, increases awareness of STEM career fields, enhances student capacity in goal setting, teamwork, and perseverance.
"Students are very interested in science but they think it is so far out of their realm of understanding. To explain to them that is something that occurs around them everyday and to help them find the wonder in that and let them know that it is accessible to everyone really sparks their interest and lets them know that those careers they feel are so far out are obtainable," says Courtney Taylor, Director of STARBASE Idaho.
We are grateful for our partnership with STARBASE Idaho. We appreciate the opportunity that ALL of our fifth grade students have to explore science and scientific properties at STARBASE.
We also want to express our gratitude to the Caldwell Transportation Company for helping make these field trips possible.
New CTE Program coming to Caldwell High School
Next school year, students at Caldwell High School will be able to take an introductory Computer Science class. This course will take a wide lens on computer science, covering topics such as programming, physical computing, web development, computer support, and cyber security. This course inspires students as they build their own websites, apps, games, and physical computing devices.
"We are trying to make it broad enough to show students there are different career paths within computer science,” said Erik Kendall, Science Teacher at CHS.
Once students take the introductory course, they will be able to take more advanced courses.
Caldwell High School offers several Career Technical Education (CTE) courses available at every grade level. These programs offer industry certifications, dual high school and college credits, and student leadership opportunities.
If you would like to find out more information about any of the CTE programs we encourage you to reach out to your counselor.
Choral Showcase
This year 110 students were able to participate in the Choral Showcase. Elementary and middle school choir students worked with Caldwell High School choir students during a day of learning and performances. The Choral Showcase allows elementary, middle, and high school choir students the opportunity to learn from each other.
"It's fun seeing the development and the growth from the younger students… I love to see the development and encouragement we get from each other," said Senior Noelani.
Choral Showcase activities include a choir workshop, craft time, games, Q&A session, and a Caldwell Choir performance. Performing together is one of the students’ favorite events of the year.
School Resource Officer Appreciation Day
The National Association of School Resource Officers encourages schools and communities to recognize the valuable work of their school resource officers during National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day February 15.
We are grateful for our partnership with the Caldwell Police Department for their examples, their leadership, and for their dedication to keeping our students and staff safe. We appreciate Sgt. Pelkey, Officer Phillips, Officer Douthit, Officer Resendez, Officer Mortensen, and Officer Wallin for their service to the students of Caldwell.
Student Achievement in Caldwell
Idaho Content Standards establish the knowledge and skills that all students should master by the end of each grade level. Students meeting grade level expectations demonstrate proficiency on the statewide assessments aligned to the content standards.
