MES Weekly Scoop
It's a great day to be a Bulldog! Bulldogs Don't Quit!
I have a sign in my office that says "Dreams Don't Work Unless You Do". Sometimes I ask students who visit me if they know what that means. Some understand it and some don't, but I think it is very meaningful. In the past few newsletters I have been writing quotes about character traits like attitude, work ethic, honesty, and perseverance. So when I reflect on my sign, I think about how this can help my students here at MES. We all know that dreams are important to everybody. If we don't have dreams, than we don't have ambitions. So many times we talk about dreams and what we want, but really we need to talk about the work it takes to reach our dreams. A dream without work ethic is useless. I believe a strong work ethic is the most important thing we can teach our children.

Counselor Connection
This week the Kindergarten through Fifth grade classes focused on career exploration. At this age, the purpose behind teaching about careers is that it helps in building a foundation for the future. Learning about careers helps them identify their strengths and interests. It also lays the groundwork for future skill development and informed career decision making.
Kindergarten students learned about numerous careers and what tools the career may use in their job. First and Second graders learned about what skills and interests someone may have and why they are important in that career choice. Third through Fifth graders spent time on Xello exploring careers and participating on missions which build knowledge and skills for career preparation.
A big thank you to Marysville PD for an impromptu visit to one of our Kindergarten classrooms to meet two of our students who are hoping to become Police Officers one day!
