Principal's Message...
Hi Sierra Families,
I would like to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope that this upcoming week allows you to spend time with those most important to you, and to enjoy a break from school. It's hard to believe that we are already one-third of the way finished with this year. We look forward to seeing everyone back in a week!
Take care,
Reagan Phillips

Did you know…that November 13th is International World Kindness Day? It might have already passed by the time you are reading this but let me tell you a little about this special day and why kindness is so cool. World Kindness Day was formed in 1998 to promote kindness throughout the world and gives us a chance to celebrate and practice one of the most unifying human principles there is, kindness!
How can we teach our children to practice kindness both in our homes and in our communities and WHY is kindness so important for our health?
Read on.
Why is kindness so dang healthy?
People who are constantly kind produce 23% less cortisol, which is the stress hormone; because of lower stress these individuals age SLOWER than the average population
Kindness is contagious; studies show when people see someone else being kind, they are more likely to to act kindly towards others and themselves
Kindness lowers blood pressure by releasing the hormone oxytocin, which dilates blood vessels.
Increases empathy! Doing kind things for others puts the focus on someone else’s needs instead of our own.
Decreases loneliness! Kindness reminds us that we are not alone in our lives♥️
30 Ideas for kids to practice kindness:
Join a classmate who is playing alone at recess or eating alone at lunch.
Find a local Little Free Library and donate a book.
Hold the door for someone.
Write a kind note to give to a classmate or teacher.
Ask someone about their day.
Write a positive comment to someone on social media.
Compliment a classmate or teacher.
Give a Grace and Courtesy lesson to a younger classmate.
Befriend a new classmate.
