PTA Updates -
Spirit Wear Popup Sale Happening Now. We've continued the spirit wear pop-up sale - place your orders for t-shirts, sweatshirts, PJ pants and more at at www.pay4schoolstuff.com. The link is live through May 7th.
We Need You! Volunteer for the 2023-24 PTA! We have an exciting agenda of opportunities for the 2023-24 school year and a number of open positions. Please contact Rita.m.montoya@gmail.com if you are interested. Available positions include Executive VP, Secretary, Fundraising Chair, Membership Chair, and Grade Level PTA Reps. Additionally, an immediate PTA need for the 2023-24 school year is to fill the position of NCC Directory Coordinator by May 15th. As Coordinator, you work with the school and our directory vendor to publish the directory. Without a volunteer by May 15th, we will not be able to have a directory next year. Please contact Andrea at nccesptapresident@gmail.com if you are able to help.
Family Survey. The NCC PTA is planning for the 2023-24 school and we want to hear from you! All information will be kept confidential.
Field Day Volunteers. Field Day will take place June 6th. We are looking for volunteers from 8:45-12:15 to help with the event. If interested, please contact our fearless P.E. teacher Ms. Taylor at Alison_Biehl@mcpsmd.org.
Attention Rising 5th Grade Families - Note From SCMS PTA. While we know that 5th grade is not quite over, the Silver Creek PTSA would like to invite you to our final PTSA General Membership Meeting of the year. We will report out on the year and vote in officers for next year. You will also have the chance to informally see our beautiful Library Media Center and meet some current Silver Creek families. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 9 from 7-8:30 PM in the Silver Creek Library Media Center. Please reach out at any time with questions (clarksonptsa@gmail.com).
Chess Club Update. The final Chess Club meeting will be June 7th. We continue to need volunteers for the remainder of the year. The Signup Genius has been updated through June 7th.
MCPS Tutoring Available
Beginning on January 25, 2022, all students will have access to free tutoring and 24/7 Homework Help to support success in their current courses/grade level, through two new approved tutoring providers, FEV Tutor and Tutor Me Education. As part of comprehensive strategies to mitigate learning disruption associated with the pandemic, all students will have access to these virtual tutoring services through their MCPS Google Account, using Clever. Some students will also be referred directly by their local school. To schedule tutoring sessions: Tutor Me students fill out this form or call/email at MCPS@tutormeeducation.com or 240-618-2549. From the Media Center- Gaithersburg Book Festival, Saturday, May 20th
From the MCPS Website: The Gaithersburg Book Festival, a celebration of books, writers and literary excellence, will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.
The festival will feature activities for children of all ages and more than 100 authors and illustrators, including appearances from two MCPS teachers as featured authors. Watkins Mill High School teacher Sara Goodman Confino, whose third book, “Don’t Forget to Write” is coming out in September, and Jonathan Roth, an art teacher at Ashburton Elementary School, who writes and illustrates the “Beep and Bob” and “Rover and Speck” chapter books and graphic novels, will both be at the event. Also exhibiting at the event will be Simarjeet Kaur Sandhu, also known as Dr. Simi, an English Language Development teacher with the Virtual Academy. This summer, she will be releasing the seventh in her series of children’s books titled, “Simran & Sehaj.”
There will also be programs, workshops and activities in the Children’s Village designed to promote an interest in reading and writing.
Admission and parking are free.
