Special Education Update

The WPACES Special Education Department has been busy! Special education departments across the city, state, and country are significantly challenged by the teacher shortage and we have not been excluded. Despite the challenges to special education our team has been working overtime to make sure our students are getting the supports they need to be successful. Most recently, we have welcomed to our team, Ms. Victoria Nyumah, who will primarily be working with our 5th grade students, and Mr. Fred Waters who will be working a mixed caseload of 4th and 5th graders. We are thrilled to have them here at WPACES!

I am grateful to have this dedicated team of special education teachers at WPACES and encourage you to let your special education teachers know you appreciate their commitment to your WPACES student. We appreciate your support, encouragement, and willingness to work with us as a team member in your child's academic and social growth. If you have questions about your child's IEP, please don't hesitate to reach out to myself or your child's special education teacher.

Check out this website that has a list of books for struggling readers. Many times are students who struggle with reading have a hard time finding books they want to read. Check out the list on the website. There are also other helpful resources including literacy apps and tips for academic learning including spelling and writing.
