Teacher Appreciation Week
THANK YOU for making teacher appreciation week so special! Our teachers pour their hearts into their students every day and while they don't need anything in return, any note or gesture, no matter the size, means more than you know. On behalf of all the teachers, we sincerely thank you for such a wonderful week!
MAP Testing Week
Students have been working hard all year and next week they will get to show off their smarts! We will kick off testing Monday by making sure everyone starts their day with a warm breakfast! Each day, students will also get a snack to help fuel them through the test. At the end of the week, we will have a "crash day" on Friday to reward all of their hard work through the week, complete with pj's of course! Please help set your student up for success by...
- Making sure they get a good night's sleep and get to bed at a good time
- Starting their day with a nutritious breakfast
- Filling up a water bottle for the day
- Double checking they still have their computer mouse and/or headphones
- Sending them out the door with words of encouragement and affirmation

To save time and confusion, we are asking for volunteers to sign up below if you are able to help out on the 15th, even if you were previously signed up. We are grateful for the snacks that have been donated. Thank you to all of our parents and families for helping make this event a success! Please take a look at the sign up and see if there is a time slot that would work for you to come out on a beautiful day and help our kids enjoy Field Day! As always, Blair Oaks thanks you for your support!

Counseling with Ms. Katnik!
We have discussed a variety of important topics in Counseling this month! We talked about the importance of demonstrating good citizenship, the 5th graders wrote letters to their senior selves, and we covered the topic of careers (the different career paths that exist and the requirements for those career paths). Throughout this month, we also had the opportunity to review and practice the following mindfulness techniques in Counseling: 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique, Deep Belly Breathing, and Rainbow Breathing. You can expand on what we have discussed in Counseling at home by having a conversation with your child about any of the topics we have covered and asking them to demonstrate and/or share with you how to do some of the mindfulness techniques we did together in class! Check out her counseling website for more information about the program.

ChatGPT Guide: Parents, Educators, & Students
ChatGPT is a large language model, web-based app launched in 2022 that has quickly risen to mainstream popularity. Within the first two months, ChatGPT gained over 100 million users, drastically faster than TikTok, which took nine months to reach the 100 million user mark.
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot that can answer questions and provide information on almost any topic. Many students are using this technological innovation as a tutor or to help them refine their writing skills; however, many teachers are concerned that using ChatGPT will lead to cheating or bring up safety issues.
