From the Principal's Desk
I can't believe fall break is upon us! The year seems to be moving so quickly. I will keep this principal update short and simply wish all of our Salt Creek families a most joyous Thanksgiving! I am so grateful to be part of this community, grateful to learn and grow with your students every single day, and grateful to you for the love and support you give to our school.
Have a safe and healthy fall break and I look forward to seeing our students when we return to school on Monday, November 27th.
Have a great break!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Scanlan
IMPORTANT ACTION ITEM FOR K-1 PARENTS!
We are thrilled to be taking a school field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry the first week of December! Please complete this permission form for your child to attend: FORM
(Note: This is for our full day K-1 students, not our half-day preschools)
Late Arrivals
Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.
Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive to school on time!
What's Happening at Salt Creek
November's Gathering
The whole school came together for our November gathering. We read a story about gratitude, learned a turkey dance, and "feasted" on our morning snack together!
That's not a Turkey....!?
If you are missing your turkey next week you may want to ask your students! Here are just a few of the amazing disguises the students created to hide their turkeys!
Mrs. Scanlan's Lunch Bunch!
Throughout the week during recess and lunch students can earn "Bee Slips" for following our 3 B's: Be Safe, Responsible and Respectful. Every Friday Mrs. Scanlan draws 4 random bee slips and those students join her in the office for a lunch bunch with the Principal! Here are the first few lunch bunch groups having a great time!
Our new school banner has arrived!
Thank you to Art Teacher, Paula Zastrow, for creating this collaborative art piece for our school. Every student's handprint is a part of this banner and it is proudly hung on the fence so everyone can view it as they drive up to our school!
Labeling Items
Lost and Found
Please be sure to label your student's sweatshirts, coats, hats and gloves with their name. This is the best way to ensure a misplaced item gets back to you. We already have an abundance of items in the lost and found.

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
TECHNOLOGY FEE
You can make payment for your child's school fees through RevTrak by signing on to Skyward. If you do not see a tech fee in RevTrak please contact the school office your child will attend. Please see below for RevTrak payments. You can also come in and make payment by cash or check to any school in our district.
Thank you in advance.
A New Way to Pay Fees in Skyward
NO MORE E-PAY! We have rolled out a new way to pay for lunches, school fees and activity fees for students. You can sign up here https://saltcreek48.revtrak.net/. Or you can go to your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.

Absent Students
Communication For When Your Child Is Absent
Please make sure to notify Angie Holden at Salt Creek Primary if your child will be absent, arriving late, or being dismissed early. It is helpful to contact your child's teacher in these matters as well, but it is very important to contact the office! If you have any doctor's notes, please send those to our health office staff.

Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.
