Removal of the Campus Enrollment Cap for Schools for the 2024-25 Academic Year
Lamar CISD is among the fastest-growing school districts in Texas, and student enrollment continues to climb. As a result of the growing student population, we placed enrollment caps on several campuses during the last two years.
To keep up with our growth, we frequently build and open new schools while reviewing and monitoring enrollment. After careful consideration and planning, we are pleased to announce that for the 2024-2025 school year, we are removing the cap on student enrollment for the following campuses:
- Bentley ES
- Hubenak ES
- Huggins ES
- Lindsey ES
- Morgan ES
- Tamarron ES
- George Ranch HS
We anticipate increased accessibility to our schools when we remove the cap. However, we understand that some of our families have grown accustomed to the overflow campuses. Therefore, we want to clarify the options available for families impacted by the cap and overflow process.
If your student will be in 5th grade or 12th grade for the 2024-2025 school year and is attending an overflow campus, you can either continue with your student attending the overflow campus for the upcoming school year or have your student attend their home/zoned campus by completing the Legacy Provision Application. It is important to note that if you choose to keep your student at the overflow campus, you are responsible for their transportation to and from school.
This option is ONLY available to students who will be in 5th grade for the 2024-2025 school year. It does NOT apply to any siblings of that student.
We will send impacted parents a link to the Legacy Provision Application or you may obtain a copy from the Front Office at your child’s campus. This application must be completed by Friday, May 17, 2024, and returned to Transfers@LCISD.org.
We understand that this decision may present challenges for some families, and we are committed to providing support and assistance wherever possible. If you have any questions or concerns regarding enrollment, please contact Transfers@LCISD.org.
COMMON THREADS
Common Threads’ End-of-Year Toiletry Drive will take place April 22nd to May 2nd. We are asking all campuses by color track for assistance in collecting items for the Common Threads for the Hope on the Brazos summer event, where families require back-to-school essentials like toiletries, school clothing, uniforms, socks, and underwear. This drive allows Common Threads to provide toiletry items to approximately 1500 – 2000 students with their back-to-school needs. Your support in helping our families and students achieve success is truly valued.

Memorial Hermann Health Centers Partnership
LCISD has participated in a partnership with Memorial Hermann Health Centers for Schools to support the families and students of LCISD. Since 2002, Memorial Hermann Health Centers has had a partnership with LCISD. Memorial Hermann Health Centers for Schools provide medical, mental health, dental, nutritional, navigation services, and exercise programming to eligible children and adolescents in Lamar CISD. The school-based health clinics along with the mobile dental van provide a medical home for those children in grades PK-12 who are under-insured and uninsured and our district’s McKinney Vento homeless students. Memorial Hermann’s goal is to bring increased health care to students who do not have the ability to receive it and allow them to remain in school where they can learn.
Lamar CISD and Memorial Hermann have a share mission of reducing student absenteeism and improving the student’s overall health and well-being. Memorial Hermann School clinics are staffed by a nurse practitioner/physician assistant, social worker/therapist, licensed vocational nurse, and receptionist with additional dietician, dental, and navigator support with physician oversight. The centers are open year-round, five days a week, and serve students in the schools’ designated elementary, middle, and high school feeder patterns. Terry Health Center serves the following campuses: Randle, Terry, GJHS, Wright, Navarro, Arredondo, Beasley, Bowie, Culver, Gray, Meyer, Ray, Thomas, Travis, and Gray. Lamar Health Center serves the following campuses: LCHS, LJH, Wessendorff, Austin, Smith, Hutchison, Jackson, Jane Long, Seguin, Phelan, and Pink. - 3rd Offense – Parent Contact, Phone confiscated, parent must retrieve phone with a $15 fee, and student is assigned ISS.

Parent Code of Conduct (Repeat)
Lamar CISD welcomes parents and guardians to be engaged and involved in student academics and activities. Mutually respectful behavior at school campuses and in interactions with campus staff is essential for fostering a positive and productive school environment. Establishing clear parent/guardian standards of conduct sets expectations and creates a respectful and supportive atmosphere for everyone involved.
- Safety and Security: Parents/guardians must comply with safety and security protocols on campus, including sign-in procedures and visitor badges.
- Adherence to School Policies: Parents/guardians must familiarize themselves with school policies and follow them, including rules related to student drop-off and pick-up, dress code, and behavior expectations.
- Respectful Communication: Parents/guardians must communicate with school staff in a respectful and courteous manner. This includes using appropriate language, listening to staff members’ perspectives, and refraining from disrespectful or aggressive behavior.
- Appropriate Use of Technology: Parents/guardians are expected to use technology, such as email or messaging apps, responsibly when communicating with school staff.
- Appropriate Time and Place: Parents/guardians are expected to understand the appropriate times and locations for discussions with teachers or school staff. There may be designated parent-teacher conferences or specific office hours when staff can address concerns.
- Privacy and Confidentiality: Parents/guardians must respect the privacy and confidentiality of other students and families. Discussions about individual students must be conducted privately and not shared with others.
- Conflict Resolution: Parents/guardians are expected to engage in constructive conflict resolution if they have concerns or disagreements with school staff. This includes seeking appropriate channels for dispute resolution and avoiding confrontations on campus.
- Feedback and Suggestions: Parents/guardians should feel welcome to provide feedback and suggestions to the school administration but should do so in a constructive and respectful manner.
Prohibited Behaviors
In order to provide a peaceful and safe school environment, Lamar CISD prohibits the following behaviors by parents/guardians and visitors:
- Abusive, threatening, profane or harassing communication, either in person, by e-mail or text/voicemail/phone or other written or verbal communication
- Disruptive behavior that interferes or threatens to interfere with campus operations, including the effective operation of a classroom, an employee’s office or duty station, a campus lobby, or school grounds, including sporting events, parking lots and car-pickup
- Threatening to do bodily harm to a District employee, visitor, fellow parent/guardian or student
- Threatening to damage the property of a District employee, visitor, fellow parent/guardian or student
- Damaging or destruction of school property
Consequences
Depending upon the severity of the incident, parents/guardians or visitors may be removed from or otherwise banned from campus and participation in school-sponsored events under the criminal trespass laws.
In situations involving lesser infractions or where remediation is viable, a warning will be provided in writing prior to the filing of trespass and issuance of a formal ban. Should a parent/guardian or visitor fail to heed the direction issued in the warning, a ban or other restrictions designed to deter the conduct will follow.
No restriction, however, will prevent the parent/guardian from working collaboratively with the campus or district to meet the child’s educational needs, nor will a parent/guardian be excluded from a child’s IEP meeting.
Specific procedures for campus warning and ban decisions can be found in policy GKA (LEGAL) and GKA (LOCAL), as well as the Lamar CISD Student Handbook.
