Parent Input Needed
We are in the process of developing our school site plan for the 2022-23 school year and we NEED your input. Please click the button blow to participate in this year's survey.
Student Behavior
We need the help and support of all parents in sending the consistent message to students that rules should be followed, even when they are not directly being supervised by an adult.
We all want a safe campus. Rules are in place to ensure that we can provide a safe and orderly environment where students can learn. Young adolescents should be able to self-supervise during short periods of time that include walking to and from school and during brunch and lunch breaks.
We are seeing a marked increase in the number of parents using the areas mark "no stopping" along May Way for drop off and pick up. We are learning that some parents have instructed their children to keep their phones in their pockets, even though the expectation is that they are in their backpacks. While these actions may seem minor, it creates a situation where some children are learning that rules only count if you are caught. This creates an environment where children who should be able to monitor basic behavior expectations independently cannot. This can be seen with the way some of our students exit campus and walk down May Way and Via Princessa after school. Numerous parents and community members have contacted us to report that students are throwing rocks and horse-playing as if they are pushing someone into the street.
Please partner with us and we work together to shape our young people into responsible community citizens. We need to send a consistent message between home and school. We need to model the following of rules as truly "more is caught than taught" with this age group.
We appreciate your partnership as we continue to develop these incredible young people together.

CAASPP State Testing
Our annual state testing, CAASPP, will be May 2-6. These are important tests that allow us to determine where our students are at. We look very closely at the data from these tests to help us plan school -wide instruction, intervention, and other supports needed to ensure all students are learning at high levels.
On an individual level, these tests help round out the picture for each student's academic progress. These results, along with grades, our reading and Math iReady diagnostic, as well as teacher input, allow us to know how individual students are progressing academically.
Please support your child and La Mesa by making sure students get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time and ready to go.
