Greetings Hilltoppers!
I hope this note finds you and your family well. I am very excited to begin my journey with you as your new principal. Now, I know I’ve been a Hilltopper for quite some time but it’s my first year in my new role. I look forward to serving you in this new capacity.
The first day of school is quickly approaching and things are pretty busy throughout the school division. Our #BlueCrew has been working all summer making sure the campus is ready. All administrators just completed our annual Summer Leadership Conference. Our counselors returned to the building this week. New teachers report on Monday, August 3rd, and our remaining faculty and staff return on Tuesday, August 4th. We are welcoming several new members to the Hilltopper family, including our new assistant principal Jason Giambrone.
It has also been exciting to see the return of many of our student-athletes. A big thank you to our athletic trainer, Jen Armstrong, athletic director, Elizabeth Masencup, and numerous coaches who have put in many hours of specialized training that allow our athletes to return to conditioning safely.
A HUGE shout out to Mrs. Tracy Miller-Goode, our counseling director. This summer has not been the typical summer for her. She has been heavily involved in guiding us as we work to finalize our master schedule. Things have obviously been delayed as we work through numerous hurdles. She and her team are working hard to finalize students’ schedules.
Conversations with our stakeholders are very important to me. In addition to our monthly newsletters, I will be scheduling opportunities throughout the school year to connect with our students and families. I’ve already had an amazing conversation with our E.C. Glass High School members of Lynchburg Students Rise. I look forward to more of these conversations!
I know these are definitely challenging times, to say the least. I also know there are many questions that you may have about how the school year will begin. We are working hard to finalize those details. The division and I will continue to communicate with each of you regarding this information. One big thing that you can do is to complete your online registration. It’s important that we have your correct contact information for you to receive the latest information. Please use your Parent Portal to complete this.
Again, I am looking forward to working with each of you, especially our amazing students. This is going to be unlike any start of the school year we have experienced BUT I know that, together, we will make it a positive and rewarding year.
Sincerely,
Rose E. Flaugher

Q: Why should I complete the Online Registration application now?
A: By completing the application, it helps our schools with planning for the upcoming year. It also is extremely helpful for our transportation department to plan routes for the upcoming year, especially if families have moved.
Q: What if I forgot my Parent Portal login and password?
A: If your child attends a middle or high school, you can contact your child's school. ( ECG 515-5370) If your child attends an elementary school or you are unable to reach someone at your child’s school, call our LCS Helpdesk at (434) 515-5090 during business hours.
Q: What if I cannot easily access the online application from my home?
A: If you have a device, you can still access the internet at our internet access points, which are listed below. If you do not have a reliable device to complete the application online, please contact your child's school and request a paper application. LCS Update
Return to Learn
Lynchburg City Schools is pleased to share our draft of the Return to Learn Plan, which you can access at www.lcsedu.net. We invite you to review the plan and tune in with us tomorrow, Wednesday, July 8 at 2 p.m. on the LCS YouTube Channel for a live viewing of our press conference. During the press conference, members of the LCS Dream Team who helped develop the plan will provide information about their roles, and we will answer questions from the local news media as well as the public.
Viewers who are tuned in to the press conference can then submit their questions via YouTube live. We ask that you wait and submit questions until 2:30 p.m., so that we can better manage questions coming in and make sure submitted questions are not repeating ones already answered during the press conference.
We look forward to continuing to serve you!
