Social Emotional Learning
What are students learning?
SEL time in these first couple of weeks will be devoted to building relationships and setting Safe, Respectful and Responsible expectations that will help students be successful all year long.
Elementary teachers will begin introducing skills to help students focus during instruction, engage in positive self-talk when working on difficult tasks, and feeling empowered to ask for help if needed. Middle school teachers will focus their lessons on positive mindsets and goal setting. High school lessons will focus on building connections and community with peers and teachers. Talk to your child about these topics to extend this learning at home.

Get Access to STAAR Test Results
Students took the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests earlier this spring. The spring 2023 STAAR has been redesigned to align closer to classroom instruction and the unique way students learn. The STAAR is one of many ways to measure student learning. Teachers will utilize STAAR results along with other information to identify learning plans to jumpstart learning this year.
You will be able to access your child’s results by logging into Skyward Family Access, starting on June 30 for High School STAAR End-of-Course, and starting today, August 16 for STAAR grades 3 through 8. After logging in, you will see a link labeled “District Links” in the top right corner and then TEA ASSESSMENT (student name). This will take you directly to your child’s STAAR results, which will include detailed breakdowns in each subject, identifying your child’s strengths as well as areas where they may need additional support. Parents have shared that seeing which questions their child got incorrect has been the most useful. You will also see easy to use resources that can be used at home to focus on the skills your child needs the most support with.
To access your child’s test results, login to Skyward Family Access and use these instructions.
