What to Bring to Essentials

Each summer, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) convenes content-specific educator committees to assist with PSSA and Keystone Exams item & test development. In general, PSSA and Keystone Exam committees convene over the summer months when schools are not in session. These essential committees help to review & revise new items, evaluate data from field test items, and determine specific scores for open-ended items. PDE is always seeking to expand the pool of qualified educators who can be selected to serve on the summer committees. Primarily, we seek classroom teachers familiar with the Pennsylvania Assessment Anchors and Eligible Content at their specific grade level(s)/content area(s) and have at least 5-years of current/recent classroom experience.

The first step in the process is completing the committee membership application (via the URL below). During the application process, the superintendent/CEO will be asked to verify the application and grant permission for the staff member to participate. Past committee members report that committee work is enjoyable and an excellent professional development experience. Mileage, lodging, and meal expenses are fully covered, and Act 48 hours are awarded. However, participants are not paid for their time.

Educator Application

On Wednesday, October 18th, the school will celebrate Unity Day. Below is information on shirts that can be ordered if any staff member is interested. The school counselors will provide more information about the day in the near future.

The PAWS kick-off assembly will take place on August 25th at 2 p.m. It will be a school-wide event in the cafeteria. The schedule for the day will be shared out shortly.
