Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Happy Summer Break! Thank you to all of the many families who have continued to support the school community through this school year. We are excited about the students' academic achievements and growth over this school year and look forward to sharing that data. We are also thrilled about the opportunity to continue expanding our engagement opportunities for our school community. Some details for this summer are in this newsletter. Additional information for the school year will be forthcoming.

This will serve as the final Family Newsletter for the 2022-2023 school year. Families enrolled for the 2023-2024 school year will begin receiving that Family Newsletter on June 30, 2023.

Summer is a great time to have some fun while raising academic skills/readiness by reading, reading, and reading! Here are some special summer programs to keep you and your student going!

• Keep a record of 3 books you read this summer and receive a free book of your choice from Barnes and Noble through the Summer Reading program.
  
  
• Looking for some fun and low-key activities to do this summer that support literacy learning? Check out these great suggestions from Reading Is Fundamental (RIF).

DC Public Library has a Discover Summer gameboard for students! This year's prizes include Nats baseball tickets, a free Wendy's frosty, and more! It officially starts this Saturday, June 17th. The library is also sponsoring free museum days across the city and special events at library locations.

This year there is one gameboard for all ages, so the whole family can participate! While signing up on online enters participants for raffles, you can also just use the gameboard and return it to any DC Public Library by August 31st for prizes (while supplies last). If anyone has participated in the last few years, they most likely have an account already online and it just needs updated.

Beginning June 30, only families who are fully enrolled for next school year will receive school communications. You can email hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov or call 202-282-0170 if you need help with enrollment, or click here to complete the forms.

As we prepare to launch into school year 2023-24, we would like to invite new and returning families to join us for the engagement opportunities outlined below. Together, we will share important information, ask questions, and build connections as a school community.

On behalf of the PTA Executive Board, we would like to thank our supporters, family, students, staff, and Hyde-Addison's leadership team. Through your unwavering support and tireless efforts, the PTA supplemented Hyde Addison's SY 2022 -2023 budget with over $70,000 in funding. The funding purchases curriculum platforms, books, professional development, technology, field trip scholarships, furniture, supplies, and more.

We are excited about the upcoming school year as we have gained additional board members and restructured the bylaws to capitalize on more endeavors to support our great school.

However, until we meet again, we wish each of you an epic, dynamic, and fantastic Summer!

If you would like a Kids Ride Free Card for your student, please fill out this short form. They will be sent home in students' backpacks on Mondays.
