*Only Fall Festival Chairs will be present as volunteers.
*No food will be provided.
Attendance Procedures
Parents are encouraged to notify the school on the day their child is absent. A note stating the reason for absence or lateness is required upon the student’s return, or the absence is automatically classified as unlawful until an approved note is provided. FCPS Regulation 400-98 mandates that a school letter be mailed when a student accumulates 3 days of unlawful absences in any marking term. These letters will be sent from MYES next week.
Anytime your child will be absent from school, please either send in a handwritten note or you can email MYES.Attendance@fcps.org. If you'd like to include your child's teacher in the email as a courtesy, it would be appreciated.
Absences considered lawful and therefore excused, as described in the Public School Laws and Code of Bylaws of the Maryland State Board of Education, are:
- Illness of the student
- Death in the immediate family
- Court summons
- Hazardous weather condition
- Work or activity accepted by the school authorities
- Observance of religious holiday up to 3 days
- State emergency
- Suspension
- Lack of authorized transportation
- Health exclusion
- Other emergency (judgment of Superintendent or designee)
Students who take trips with their parents may be excused no more than twice during a year for a combined maximum of five days.

Dismissal- Walkers and car riders will be dismissed at 3:30 pm. Walkers exit from the main entrance while car riders are dismissed in the back of the school. Students will wait inside the school in the gym. Please remain in your vehicle while waiting in the car rider loop.
Car rider pick up will be in two waves in order to minimize traffic on Main Street. If you have multiple children at MYES, please arrive at 3:30. If you have only one child, please arrive at 3:40. Your adherence to these times will greatly support our school dismissal- thank you in advance. MYES will continue to use the hang tag system. Former families, please use the tags issued to you previously. If you have need hang tags, email marsha.meredith@fcps.org.
If there is a change in the way that your child travels home from school, please send a note that morning to inform the school of the change or complete the online google form: click here. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. This enables us to ensure that all students arrive safely at their final destination.
Food and Nutrition Services
Frederick County Public Schools, Food and Nutrition Services announces participation in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for the 2021-2022 school year. SSO is part of the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Program and has been approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to allow all children enrolled at Frederick County Public Schools to receive meals for free.
We encourage families to complete the free and reduced-price meal benefits application even though all children receive meals at no charge because the USDA provides funds that support the nutrition program based on your child’s eligibility. Eligibility for free or reduced-price meal reimbursement is based on the following annual income eligibility guidelines effective from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022. Free and reduced-price meal benefits are available at all Frederick County Public Schools. Online and printable applications can be found at www.fcps.org/meals.
To reduce the number of close contacts and potential exposure, parents will not be allowed to visit in the lunchroom. We will monitor health metrics and school data and share when this restriction can be lifted.
MYES Vision Statement
