Free Summer Parent Book Study Opportunity
You're invited to join the TCE Parent Independent Book Study this summer! TCE is excited to offer our first-ever independent parent book Study. The book, Teach Your Children Well: Why Values and Coping Skills Matter More Than Grades, Trophies, and Fat Envelopes, will be provided for you at no cost and will be yours to keep.
We had great success this past spring using this specific book for a parent book study, so we wanted to provide an opportunity for others to benefit from this book. So, if you weren't able to join us this past spring, this is the perfect opportunity for you! You can read the book at your own pace, and we have created a Schoology Course to accompany the independent study that contains additional articles, videos, and reflection activities. Upon registration, you will receive an email with the details on how to register for the course and utilize the resources. You will also receive instructions on how and where to pick up your book.
See below for a brief synopsis of the book and what our very own TCE parents had to say about the book.
Psychologist Madeline Levine brings together cutting-edge research and thirty years of clinical experience to explode once and for all the myth that good grades, high test scores, and college acceptances should define the parenting endgame. This book clarifies some of the core values and choices that are most likely to lead to authentic success.
What are Town Center parents saying about this book?
"The book had a lot of relatable examples and alternate approaches to practically try out. There were many aha moments for me as I went through the chapters." - Sam Jayavelan, TCE 3rd grade parent
"This book should be required reading for all!" - TCE 5th grade parent
"I got a better perspective of what success is for children." - Laura Penton, TCE 3rd grade parent
"Practical and useful suggestions." - TCE Kindergarten parent
"This book is great for ideas, thoughts, and validation." - Nancy Garvey, TCE 3rd grade parent
"I really enjoyed it and even referenced the book several times in conversations with others." - TCE 4th & 3rd grade parent
"Teach Your Children Well was a good reminder to not let our own approach to academia and/or sports become our children's childhood. I often have to remind myself my kids think and react like kids, not miniature adults seasoned with a lot of life experiences. The book helps put all that into perspective as well as laying out reasonable expectations and responsibilities we can and should ask of our children through their childhood years." 4th & 2nd grade parent
**Registration is open now through Friday, May 28th (or until supplies last).
