The PSAT is given (free of charge) to ALL 10th graders at RHHS, and all 10th graders are automatically registered. Any 9th or 11th grade student wanting to take the PSAT is encouraged to do so. 9th and 11th graders must register for this and pay the associated cost $17. The deadline to register is September 11th at 3pm. Juniors wanting to be considered for the National Merit Scholarship Competition must take the PSAT as an 11th grader. Let your child know how proud you are of his/her accomplishments by purchasing a SENIOR AD in the RHHS yearbook. To purchase an ad, go to www.yearbookcenter.com, and key in our school’s order number (902) and select “Buy a Yearbook Ad”.

This Saturday our Boys Soccer Team is leading Service Saturday. Each Service Saturday, we invite anyone who would like to be part of giving back to RHHS to join to group that is leading the efforts that week. Students who are on the Obligations List for detention can also serve in lieu of detention.

Richmond Hill High School and the School Store are excited to announce the launch of our online store. RHHS has partnered with BSN to create a full service apparel website that allows the customer to customize any of the items to fit their need. All of the Athletics, Clubs, and Organizations are represented in the website as well. We are excited to see the Richmond Hill community outfitted in RH gear! Mark your calendars! Our counselors will host grade level Parent Nights over the next several weeks. Counselors and administrators will share information about the school year and specific information for each grade level. All meetings will be held in the east cafeteria.

• Sophomore & Junior Parent Night: September 11th, 6:30pm
• Freshmen Parent Night, September 18th, 6:30pm

RHHS student dues will be uploaded to students’ MyPayments+ account on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Dues are $30 per year. Students only pay for the years he/she attends RHHS. The deadline for paying dues without incurring a late fee is December 1, 2018. When paying on MyPayments+, you will see a payment of $45. Please do not be alarmed by this. In an effort to streamline our payment process and make bookkeeping easier and more accurate, we have already included late fees into the total amount. To avoid paying late fees, please use the discount code "December1" - this will reset the cost to $30.

February 22, 2019 is the final date to pay dues in order to get a prom ticket covered by payment of dues. Any junior or senior student who wishes to go to prom and does not pay dues before February 22, 2019, will have to purchase a prom ticket for $125. Students who have not paid dues in past years must pay those dues as well as dues for this year by the due date in order to receive prom ticket or to be able to participate in graduation week events and graduation ceremony.

At RHHS, many of our juniors and seniors are well into their college preparation. Most are in the process of taking the ASVAB, ACT, and SAT - and others are already visiting colleges independently and filling out applications.

RHHS is excited to begin offering monthly college field trip opportunities to eligible juniors and seniors on a first come/first serve basis for the first 35 students to register beginning in September.

All junior and senior applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Passing all classes with a 70 or higher

2. No more than 3 tardies

3. No more than 1 excused absence

Upcoming field trips for 1st semester include:

• 9/25/18 - Georgia Southern University– Statesboro Campus
• 10/24/18- College of Coastal Georgia (in Brunswick)
• 11/06/18 - Georgia Southern University – Armstrong Campus

Parents of the first 35 applicants each month are welcome and encouraged to volunteer as chaperones. Contact Jennifer Blanton, counselor, for additional information.

The Department of Health is partnering with Bryan County Schools again this year and will offer flu shots to students. Students should have received consent forms and information about these vaccines in advisement this week. Students who want to take advantage of this service must return the Flu Consent Form to the RHHS Clinic (in the 400 hall) no later than September 10th.
