News and Notes
Happy Friday Buffalos,
Next week we look forward to celebrating literacy all week long! Today our Student Council visited the iCare Food Bank and donated 448 items that we collected. Teaching our students to give back to the community is something we take pride in and we appreciate all of the help from our families. Here is a look at what is happening at BES:
- Kona Ice Date Change- Kona Ice is coming as a part of our Read Across America celebrations on March 7.
- Cookie Dough Update- This is a reminder that all cookie dough order forms and payment are due back to the school by Tuesday, March 7th. The class that sells the most cookie dough will win a PIZZA PARTY! The 2nd place class will win an ice cream sandwich party and the 3rd place class will win a sucker party. Also, a reminder that the cookie dough needs to be picked up on Thursday, March 30th from 3pm to 6pm in the Berryton United Methodist Church parking lot.
- Transportation Communication- BES has welcomed Mrs. Heather Augustine to our Office Team. Thus, when emailing about transportation changes please email both Mrs. Heather at augustineh@usd450.net and Mrs. Tanya at howbertt@usd450.net.
- Happy Bear Visiting Students in Grades K and 1- Happy Bear will visit all students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade on Wednesday, March 8th. Kindergarten will observe a presentation at 9:30 and 1st Grade will attend at 10:20. If you would like for your child NOT to participate in these presentations please email Mrs. Boyer directly at boyerm@usd450.net. Information is shared below regarding the purpose of the Happy Bear visit.
- Upcoming Maturity Videos for Grades 5 and 6- Maturity videos will be viewed on the afternoon of March 24 for students in grades 5 and 6. Communication Director Mrs. Tiffanie Kinsch sent out an email with details about these videos and the content that will be discussed. Please let me know if your child will not attend this viewing.
Kids Heart Challenge Kickoff with Coach Glatczak
Our school had so much fun kicking off this year's Kids Heart Challenge this week!
We traveled the globe with this year's heart heroes who emphasized the importance of things like helping others, drinking water, getting enough sleep and saying NO to tobacco and vaping.
BONUS: Your student will receive this awesome wristband just for joining at the website shown directly below or using the KHC app.
EXTRA BONUS: For any student who raises $100+ will get to pour DRAGON DROOL on a teacher!
Finn's Mission: Have you met heart hero, Finn? He's sharing Finn's mission to help us and all help kids with special hearts- like him!
He's also set a goal to get 1.8 million families (in honor of the 18 procedures he has had) across the country to learn Hands-Only CPR. You can help by joining Finn's Mission to learn this life-saving skill.
When your student completes all the missions, they'll earn Finn's Lifesavers Award! Finn's Mission is on the free Kids Heart Challenge app.
