"Stay in the Loop" 7th Edition
Letter From the Principal
Wow, how time flies! It's hard to believe that we have already finished our first quarter. Your child should have received his/her report card today. Please review the report card with your child, paying special attention to the Work Habits section. This portion of the report card provides information about your child's effort and conduct, which are two factors that may impact learning the most. If your child received a 1 or 2 on the Work Habits Report, please take time to discuss ways to improve in these areas. Each quarter, students who receive all 3s and at least four 4s will be recognized and receive a Positive Panther Award. Please also remind your child that we have just started Quarter 2, so everyone has a fresh new start!
This afternoon, we had our first All-School Assembly to recognize students who earned the Positive Panther Awards and/or Honor Roll (6th-8th), won the design contests for the Yearbook Cover or our God's Gifts Stickers, earned four God's Gifts Stickers, or played SPX Athletics this quarter. In addition to the awards, our cheerleaders lead an energetic Pep Rally, the staff "performed" a routine, and student representatives from each grade level competed in Minute to Win It type challenges. It was a great way to show our SPX spirit and celebrate our students' Quarter 1 accomplishments! We will include photos and lists of our award winners in our next newsletter.

New Late Pick-Up Policy
We have implemented a new procedure for students who are not picked up on time. Dismissal is at 2:30. If parents are not in the carline by 2:40, the students will be taken to Latchkey. Parents will be charged through Incidental Billing the Daily Drop-In Fee of $30.00 per child, plus a one-time registration fee of $25. Parents should ring the bell at Door C to pick up their child(ren) on those days.
All Saints Day
On Tuesday, November 1, we celebrated All Saints Day with an All-School Mass. As always, Father Dave did an extraordinary job sharing a homily that provided an analogy and a visual that enabled our students to fully understand his message. By bringing students forward to "hold" the ingredients for chicken noodle soup, he explained how each of the ingredients were important in giving the soup just the right taste. Similarly, he explained that God needs each one of us, with all of our uniqueness, in heaven. Fortunately, the saints have provide us beautiful examples of how to live lives that lead us to heaven.

Orders ship in a cooler packed with dry ice via FedEx direct to the customer’s front door. St. Pius earns 10% of the total dollar amount on every order.
When searching for our school, we are listed as St. Pius X School!
Market Day still offers proprietary and exclusive family favorites like ChicNSteakes®, Pizza-Eatzzas® and Chocolate Pudding Cakes to name just a few, and many other delicious frozen foods!

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week was a lot of fun and a huge success thanks to our Red Ribbon Week Ambassadors Caroline Gegorski, Tyler Hermen, Caroline Kitsmiller, and Sammy Gerardi. We kicked off the week wearing bright accessories and sunglasses to represent our bright futures, followed by treats at lunch time, a fun door decorating contest, and a Drug Free Pledge for all of the students to sign.
Congrats to Mrs. Angle's Kindergarten Bears for winning the door decorating contest!
Congrats to the 8th Grade Drug Free T-Shirt Contest winners:
1st Place - Alexis Kline
2nd Place - Camden Caldwell
3rd Place - Izzy Forshey
Thank you, St. Pius, for participating and Celebrating Life by Living Drug Free!
SPX Teachers Make Learning Irresistible!
8th graders observed how variables that create and trap gases under pressure affect the explosion of a volcanic eruption.
Miss Thomas and her 2nd grade class celebrated writing their Halloween stories with a coffeehouse style hot chocolate reading day!
The 6th graders went to Shepherd's Corner and gathered samples from Blacklick Creek to classify the organisms they found to score the water quality.
Club Highlight - Drama Club
Drama Club started in 2018 as a way for 6th, 7th and 8th graders to learn more about acting, improvising and theatre before they begin working on the Spring Musical in late January.. The first year, Drama Club focused on acting and improvisation games and have since added performances of short skits. This year, Drama Club will be performing their very first Fall Play. It is Mrs. Smith's hope that students feel more confident with script reading, stage direction, expression and movement, and they really see the importance of cooperation and teamwork in theatre. Stay tuned for details on their upcoming play, Channeling Grimm!
