Mt. Baldy Memo

Dear Parent/Guardians,

Your child may see some new additions to their synchronous instruction. We are pleased to welcome some of our guest teachers and proctor/aides online to provide additional support to our students. Be sure to give a big thank you to Joy Tanjuakio, Allison Rodriguez, Marina Williams, and Patty Bornhop.

We understand there was a little confusion about the All-Call that went out on Monday. We will give families an All Call any time we think families might need clear information. On Monday we had significant snow. In normal years, we would have called off school. BUT, since we are in distance learning, we wanted to make sure our students and families (especially up the hill) did not assume that school was cancelled due to snow. We are glad to report that we had most of our students in attendance that day (and hope they got to play in the snow too!)

We have our next instructional material pick up next week. Looks like we are in for some weather. If roads are not passable, we will do an ALL CALL and reschedule the pick up for Thursday. If it is raining or snowing, we will be asking you to come to the front door of the school for your materials, since we won't be able to have them available outside.

As you are aware, the COVID-19 terrain is one that is shifting almost daily right now We are coordinating efforts to offer our staff the vaccine when it becomes available. On January 14th the California Department of Public Health issued new guidelines for re-opening schools which incorporate OSHA requirements. We are reworking our re-opening plan to incorporate the new information and protocols required. We continue to monitor county numbers closely and are meeting frequently with the San Bernardino Department of Public Health.

The effects of COVID are unfortunately avery real part of our lives right now. Our thoughts are with our families and their loved ones that are being impacted by this disease.

Care Solace will assign a personal Care Concierge to support you through the process of finding mental health care. They will help you book an appointment and check in afterward to see if you like the provider or need additional support.

The CDE and USDA have extended the Summer Meal Service to provide free meals to all students until December 31, 2020. We receive our lunches through Claremont Unified School District. Meals will be offered on a daily basis (not a week's worth like during the summer).

Families may go to the following locations to pick up lunches. Please mention that you are from Mt. Baldy School (they will ask for a meal card).
