Issue #15: Wednesday, May 10, 2023
Important reminder!
It is Teacher Appreciation week and we want to express sincerest appreciation and gratitude to our teachers!
As educators, you play a vital role in shaping the lives of our students and ensuring that they have the knowledge, skills, and values they need to succeed in life. Your hard work, dedication, and passion for teaching are an inspiration to us all.
We recognize that your work extends far beyond the classroom. You are mentors, role models, and advocates for our students. You create safe and welcoming environments where our students feel valued and supported. You work tirelessly to meet the individual needs of each student, ensuring that they reach their full potential.
We want you to know that your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do, not just during this Teacher Appreciation Week, but every day of the year. You are making a profound and lasting impact on the lives of our students, and we are grateful for your service.
Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is a month-long celebration during the month of May. It is an opportunity to honor and recognize the rich history, culture, and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in the United States. It's a time to celebrate the diversity and unique traditions of these communities and to acknowledge their important role in shaping American society.
This month, the Bremerton School District honors the rich diversity of our community and celebrates the contributions and achievements of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in Bremerton and Kitsap County.
Today is National School Nurses Day
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all that our school nurses do! Your dedication, expertise, and compassion make a tremendous difference in the lives of our students.

The District renewed their annual membership with the WA Interscholastic Activities Assn. (WIAA), and Director John Hurley has agreed to serve for another year as the Board’s representative to WIAA.
The Board loves its recognition opportunities and they voted to recognize May 8-12 as Teacher Appreciation Week in the District. They also met two Bremerton sophomores, Virginia Arizmendi and Savannah Landrum, who were selected to be a part of the Washington World Fellows Program. This is a great opportunity for our students and the Board congratulates them on their selection.

BSD in the news
Kitsap Sun: For decades, Bob Fredericks has been the one to get things done for Kitsap sports
Bob Fredericks - a 1947 BHS grad - is nearing 94 years old. As BHS student body president, he led an effort to build Bremerton Memorial Stadium, and several decades later helped raise money for the Olympic College Booster Club in its successful effort to put a roof on the east stands.
An update from the business office
Are you using the correct timesheet?
Our Classified and Certificated timesheets were updated earlier this year. The old timesheets were removed from the Staff Forms on our website and replaced with the new ones (a link to each is below).
Beginning with May 2023 timehseets, Payroll will not accept the old form. Should an old form be received, it will be returned to the employee to be completed on the new form. It would be greatly appreciated if you would destroy, recycle or turn any old forms you have into scratch pads.
