Hello Hall-Dale community!

October is going to be a very busy month. Starting this month, I will be hosting a "Principal Coffee & Conversation" hour on Tuesday, October 16 from 7:30-8:30am. It will be a time for parents/guardians to meet with me to discuss any questions you may have about HDES. There won't be agendas for the time together, just an opportunity for us to connect. This month I'll be sharing what parents can expect at parent conferences. Can't make it this month? No problem! I'll be offering a morning each month for us to get together for the purposes of increasing communication between home and school.

If the morning meetings don't fit your schedule, I'm happy to meet with individual parents at any time to answer any questions you may have. Just call Katie Putnam in the main office to schedule a better time.

Did you know that Hall-Dale Elementary School has a food pantry? Did you know that they have a backpack program that sends food home with children who may need a little help keeping their bellies full over the weekend? Did you know that it is funded entirely by donations?

From October 7th to October 31st bring in FIVE non-perishable items and get a FREE half hour pass! Lets help them out!

Ideas:
Oatmeal, pasta, pasta sauce, fruit cups, applesauce, granola bars, peanut butter, mac and cheese, snacks, etc.

HDES will be hosting parent-teacher conferences on Thursday, Oct. 18. This is an important time for teachers to share with parents/guardians what the students have been working on and what the goals are for this year. Teachers are setting up conference times through the website, www.signup.com

Please contact us if you haven't heard from your child's teacher yet.

HDES will be hosting a book fair from Oct. 15-19. Here is a message from Laurie Taylor, our librarian:

Volunteers needed to work at the Scholastic book fair next week!

First thing in the morning:

8 - 8:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

First grade shopping time:

10:45 - 10:15 on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.

Kindergarten shopping time:

11:35 - 12:00 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

Parent-Teacher conferences:

Any time between 3 and 7 on Thursday 10/18.

Typically volunteers help kids with wish lists and/or operate the super simple cash register.

Ms. Wilcox is looking for a few items to decorate tables in the cafeteria for Mix It Up at Lunch Day on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

If you collect any of these items please drop them off in the front office. Items needed:

Our Lost and Found table has a collection that is growing! Please have your student take a peek if you think that they may have lost something at school. We would love to see everything returned to their owner!

10/11 - Picture Day! Smile :)

10/11 - Author Visit - Author Tamra Wight will give a Descriptive Writing Presentation. Using her experiences and photos from her hiking trails and kayak, she'll show the inspiration and behind-the-scenes stories from her hands-on research. Photos include loon behavior, campground scenes, fox kits, eaglets, and bears-most of which were taken in her "backyard".
