Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Mary Finnigan
Mrs. Finnigan is Dryden Community Schools’ Superintendent and the Principal of Dryden High School. She has been to Wayne State University, Macomb Community College, and Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts, and she has Education Specialist, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees. She loves to travel, read, watch movies, and spend time with her family and friends. Her favorite colors are pink and black. Her favorite animals are dogs. Her favorite music is anything from the '80s, and her favorite candy is Hershey’s Chocolate.
Her words of motivation for students are to “Dream big! Anything is possible as long as you are willing to work for it. You just need to take a small step forward every day”.

We sent out a Google Form with three questions for all of the students in Dryden Junior/ Senior High School about their favorite thing about Mrs. Finnigan, their favorite memory with Mrs. Finnigan, and the most valuable lesson they learned from Mrs. Finnigan.
Liam Napolitano said that his favorite thing about Mrs. Finnigan is her smile. The most valuable thing that he learned from Mrs. Finnigan is to be kind.
Ian Weier said that his favorite thing about Mrs. Finnigan is that she is super kind and helpful. He stated, “she helps everyone and everything within this school”.
Keegan Byerley said that his favorite thing about Mrs. Finnigan is how funny and nice she is. His favorite memory with Mrs. Finnigan was when they found out that he has four College Board accounts. The most valuable thing he learned from Mrs. Finnigan is to take your time to figure things out.
Audrey Napolitano said that her favorite thing about Mrs. Finnigan is how considerate and benevolent she is. She stated, “She’s always there to help and encourage you to work hard and do your best”. The most valuable lesson she learned from Mrs. Finnigan is to work hard, be kind, and never give up.

Varsity Track

Some of the Track Team's members participated in the State Finals last Saturday, June 3rd. Great job to everyone making it to that level, and everyone who competed to the best of their abilities!
On the team, Adeline Tresnak went to states for high jump, where she jumped 4 feet 7 inches, placing 21st in the state, and shot put, throwing 33 feet, 7 inches, rebreaking the school record and placing her at 13th place.
Ava DeVlaminck went to states for discus, where she threw 88 feet and 1 inch, placing her 23rd in the state.
Aiden Fitchett ran the 1600M in 4:49.02, placing 19th in the state.
Sophia Peter ran the 100 meter high hurdles, where she ran a time of 49.16, placing her 13th, and the 100 meter hurdles, with a time of 17.64, making her 13th.
Cody Jackson threw 35-11.75 in the shot put competition, finishing 23rd in the state.
Olivia Stickler ran the 100, running 13.14 seconds, placing her 13th. She also ran the 400 meter dash, with a time of 1 minute, a personal best and a 3rd place spot, making her All-State.
Lastly, Keira Miller, Delaney Wolle, Sophia Peter, and Olivia Stickler ran the 4 by 200 meter dash where they broke their own school record with a time of 1 minutes and 50 seconds. '

Congratulations to #proudcardinal junior Olivia Stickler for her All-State 3rd place performance in the 400M at the MHSAA Lower Peninsula Division 4 State Final Track & Field competition on June 3. Olivia set a new Dryden High School record with a time of 1:00.83. The previous record was set in 2005 by Chrissy Bieling with a time of 1:01.04.

Adeline set a new Dryden High School record with a throw of 33’7.25.
The previous record was set by Adeline this season.
Congratulations to #proudcardinal juniors Delaney Wolle, Sophia Peter, and Olivia Stickler and sophomore Keira Miller for their All-State 5th place performance in the 4x200 Relay at the MHSAA Lower Peninsula Division 4 State Final Track & Field competition on June 3.
They set a new Dryden High School record with a time of 1:50.25.
The previous record was set this season by the same team.
Varsity Softball
On Tuesday, May 30, the Dryden girls regular season ended. In the first game, Dryden lost 1 -13. The losing pitcher is Rilynn Lindsay. She had pitched 4.5 innings and she struck out 6. She gave up 11 walks, 4 hits, and 9 runs. Lola Abromaitis pitched 1.5 innings. She had 2 strikeouts and gave up 4 walks, 3 hits, and 4 runs.
Offense: Brianna Snavely had a single and an RBI triple.
Defense: Kaitlynn Knuth, Mallory Barker, Rilynn Lindsay, Madison Maday, Lola Abromaitis, Addie Tresnak, Brianna Snavely, and Arianna LaValla
In the second game, Dryden lost 6-17. The losing pitcher is Addie Tresnak. She had pitched 4 innings and 6 strikeouts. She also gave up 9 walks, 11 hits, and 17 runs.
Offense: Addie Tresnak had 2 doubles and stole a base. Brianna Snavely had a SAC. Rilynn Lindsay had an HR with 2 RBIs. Madison Maday had a single. Mikalya Fleming had a triple, a double, and a single with an RBI.

Varsity Baseball
On May 22, the Cardinals played Caseville at home to win game one 17-2 in four innings and game two 19-2 in three innings. After this League game, their overall record is 9-13, and their NCTL League record is 6-4.
Game 1 (17-2 win):
Marty Barker reached base 4 times, going 3 for 3 with a walk, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 4 stolen bases. Jayden Stankevich went 2 for 2 with a walk, 2 RBI, 2 runs, and 1 stolen base. Ian Tresnak went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI, 2 runs, and 2 stolen bases. Dylan Ledford went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs, and 2 stolen bases. Mason Stofcheck went 2 for 3 with a walk, 2 runs, 1 RBI, and 4 stolen bases. Owen Gall went 1 for 3 with a walk, 1 run, and 2RBI. Hayden Blair went 1 for 3, with 1 run and 1 RBI. Rowan Handley went 1 for 1 with 1 walk, 2 runs, 2 RBI, and 2 stolen bases. Josh Harris added 1 walk and reached base twice on a hit by pitch and he also scored 3 runs, had 1 RBI, and stole 2 bases. Ian Tresnak came on in relief and got the win, pitching 2 2/3 innings, giving up 1 hit, 3 walks, and 1 earned run while striking out 6.
Game 2 (19-2 win):
Mason Stofcheck went 3 for 4 with a double, 4 RBI, 3 runs, and 1 stolen base. Marty Barker reached safely in all 4 plate appearances, going 2 for 2 with 2 walks, 2RBI, 3 runs scored, and 1 stolen base. Ian Tresnak went 2 for 3 with a walk, 1 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Owen Gall was 2 for 3 with a walk, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Dylan Ledford was 1 for 2 with 2 walks, 3 runs, and 2 stolen bases. Rowan Handley was 1 for 4 with 1 RBI, 1 run, and 2 stolen bases. Hayden Blair added 2 walks and was hit by a pitch, scored 1 run, and stole 1 base. Josh Harris added a walk, 2 runs, and 1 RBI. Jayden Stankevich added 1 walk, 1 run, and 1 stolen base. Marty Barker and Mason Stofcheck combined on the outing, with the pair giving up 0 earned runs on 2 hits, 0 walks, and 7 strikeouts.
At Oakland Christian on the 23rd, Dryden went home with a loss of 12-2. This put their overall record at 9-14. Dylan Ledford went 1 for 2 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Mason Stofcheck went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI. Owen Gall went 1 for 2. Dylan Ledford got the start and took the loss, pitching 4 2/3 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 7 hits and 4 walks while striking out 9 Lancers batters.
In an NCTL league game on the 30th, Dryden won both games against Mayville at home. Their first game score was 4-1, and the second, 6-5. Their overall record became 11-14, and their NCTL became 8-4.
Game 1 (4-1 win):
Mason Stofcheck went 2 for 2, with 2 runs and 1 walk. Owen Gall went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and 1 stolen base. Dylan Ledford went 1 for 2 with 1 walk, 1 run, and 1 stolen base. Ian Tresnak went 1 for 3 with 1 run, 1 RBI, and 1 stolen base. Marty Barker went 1 for 3. Josh Harris added 1 walk. Dylan Ledford got the start and the win, pitching a 6 inning complete game, giving up 1 earned run on 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 12 Wildcats batters.
Game 2 (6-5 win):
Josh Harris went 2 for 3 with a double, 1 run, and 1 RBI. Owen Gall went 2 for 3 with a walk and 1 run scored. Mason Stofcheck went 2 for 4 including 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Dylan Ledford went 2 for 4, with 1 run, 1 RBI, and 1 stolen base. Rowan Handley went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI. Ian Tresnak went 1 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Marty Barker added 1 walk, 1 stolen base, and 1 run. Hayden Blair added a walk. Marty Barker got the start and the win, pitching 5 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 9 hits with 0 walks while striking out 7 Mayville batters. Dylan Ledford closed the game out and got the save, pitching 1 inning and giving up 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and striking out 2 batters.
At the last regular game of the season at Dryden, Akron Fairgrove went home with a win and a loss. The first game was taken by the Cardinals with a 15-0 and the second was lost with an 8-3. Their overall record is 12-15, and their NCTL record will end with a 9-4. This makes them 3rd in the league!
Game 1 (15-0 win):
Dylan Ledford reached base in all 4 plate appearances, going 3 for 3 with 1 walk, 1 run scored, and 2 stolen bases. Josh Harris went 1 for 1 with a walk, hit by pitch, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI. Ian Tresnak went 1 for 2 with 2 walks, 3 runs scored, and 3 RBI. Owen Gall went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, 1 walk, and 1 run scored. Rowan Handley went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Jayden Stankevich added 2 walks, 2 runs, and 1 RBI. Marty Barker added 2 walks, 1 run, and 1 stolen base. Mason Stofcheck had 1 walk, 1 run, 1 RBI. Hayden Blair added 1 walk and 2 runs. Freshman Ian Tresnak got the start and the win, pitching a 4 inning complete game no-hit shutout, giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while walking 1 and striking out 8 batters.
Game 2 (8-3 loss):
Marty Barker went 2 for 2 with a double, 1 RBI, and 1 stolen base. Ian Tresnak went 1 for 2 with 2 runs and 1 stolen base. Dylan Ledford went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1 stolen base. Owen Gall went 1 for 2. Josh Harris added 1 walk. Mason Stofcheck got the start and pitched 1 2/3 innings and took the loss.
Finishing their season on June 3 at Genesee, The Cardinals played Genesee in their semi-final winning 15-0 but went on to play Genesee Christian in the final and lost 9-8 after a long 9-inning game. Their overall record will end with a 13-16.

Dylan Ledford reached base in all 4 plate appearances, going 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 1 walk, 3 runs scored, 1 RBI, and 2 stolen bases. Ian Tresnak went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, and 2 stolen bases. Marty Barker went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, 2 runs, and 2 stolen bases. Owen Gall went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Mason Stofcheck went 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 stolen bases. Josh Harris went 1 for 2 with 1 walk, 1 run, 1 stolen base, and 1 RBI. Jayden Stankevich went 1 for 3. Rowan Handley added 1 run, 1 RBI, and 1 stolen base. Hayden Blair added 1 walk, 1 stolen base, and 1 run. Dylan Ledford got the start and the win, pitching 3 shutout innings and giving up 0 hits, 0 runs, and 0 walks while striking out 8 Wolves batters. Game 2 (9-8 loss):
Ian Tresnak went 3 for 6 with 2 RBI, 2 runs, and 1 stolen base. Marty Barker went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI, 1 walk, and 1 stolen base. Dylan Ledford went 2 for 5 with a triple and 3 runs scored. Mason Stofcheck went 2 for 5 with 1 walk, 1 run, and 1 stolen base. Owen Gall went 2 for 4 with 2 walks and 1 RBI. Jayden Stankevich went 2 for 5. Rowan Handley went 1 for 4 with 1 walk and 1 RBI. Josh Harris went 1 for 5 with 1 walk and 2 RBI. Hayden Blair added 1 walk. Dylan Ledford got the start, giving up 1 earned run in 3 1/3 innings, walking 1 batter, and giving up 4 hits while striking out 10. Marty Barker came on in relief and pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7 batters. Ian Tresnak pitched the final 2 innings and took the loss, giving up 0 earned runs on 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 2.
Varsity Girls Soccer

On Tuesday, May 30th, the Dryden/ Imlay City Varsity Girls Soccer team played against Marysville High School for the District Semi-Final game. Dryden/ Imlay City won the game against Marysville, 2-1. Jessica Peters accumulated two goals.
On Thursday, June 1st, the Dryden/ Imlay City Varsity Girls Soccer team played their last game of the season against St. Clair High School for the District Final. Dryden/Imlay City lost the game against St. Clair, 8-1. Jessica Peters contributed one goal.

Dryden Basketball Skills Camp
Coach Cramer is a former overseas pro and college athlete. He has coached at the high school and junior high level in the U.S. and in Germany. He trains thousands of athletes each year from throughout the country. He is known for his intensity and detailed instruction.
