A Note from the Principal

Dear Families,

I hope everyone was able to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. It is certainly a busy time of year but an important time to enjoy the many blessings of the season. Thank you to our chorus scholars and our music department for the beautiful choral concert this week! It certainly helped to ring in the season and get us even more excited for the holidays. As these next few weeks roll out, we continue to keep our scholars focused and available for learning. Thank you for your support in this endeavor as well!

Front Office Announcement

It is with bittersweet feelings to share that Mrs. Susan Welch, 10 month secretary has accepted the administrative secretary position at the new Urbana Elementary. Mrs. Welch has been a part of CES for many years. There are no words to express our greatest appreciation for Mrs. Welch's dedication and support of CES. She will forever be a CES star! Mrs. Welch will start her position as of January 2 so that she can begin all of the planning that goes into opening a new school. Thank you Mrs. Welch for EVERYTHING! We wish you the best in your new endeavor.

Safety Announcement

This is a critical announcement regarding arrival and dismissal traffic coming in and out of CES. The safety of our students and staff is a priority and we appreciate our community supporting us with this important task. We continue to work closely with our crossing guards and resource officers to provide safe travels for our families. However, we highly request that those traveling in cars to please slow down, practice patience and be on extra alert. Our precious children are put at risk with unsafe driving. Thank you for your support!

Wellness Reminder

Tis the season for the sniffles, coughs and other illnesses. If your child(ren) is diagnosed by a physician with a contagious illness such as flu or strep, please share this information in a note to the school. Our health room tracks these types of illnesses. Also, if your child(ren) experience fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea, they must be free of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Thank you for keeping all of our stars healthy!

Thursday, December 12: Flannel Day: wear your favorite flannel

Friday, December 13: Ugly Sweater Day

Monday, December 16: Candy Cane Day: wear red and white

Tuesday, December 17: Snow Day: dress like a snowman, snowflake or wear blue and white

Wednesday, December 18: Holiday Cheer Day: wear your favorite holiday gear (hats, socks, etc)

Thursday, December 19: Elf Day: dress up like an elf

Friday, December 20: Cozy Day: wear your holiday PJ's

Donations Appreciated

Our health room is in need of new boys and girls underwear ranging from sizes 4-8. In addition we would love to have gently used girls leggings and boys active pants. Just send in your donations to the front office. Thank you!

FCPS Snow Information

Occasionally inclement weather or other safety or health conditions require FCPS to cancel, delay or otherwise change school routines or schedules. Typically, cancellation and delay decisions are made by 5 AM that day and announced soon after. If weather becomes a factor after school is in session, a decision to close early is made, whenever possible, by 10 AM that day. Very rarely, FCPS may be required to take student safety precautions immediately, with little or no notice. Although we notify many regional news outlets, we encourage parents and guardians to use the following sources for the most accurate news.
