Cultural Parade 2023!
Check out our GRHS Facebook Page for more pictures and videos!
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Peeps,
We may only have 6 more weeks, but there is still lots more learning and showing up to do! Don't take your foot off the pedal just yet! Shout out to our PTO and amazing parents for your donations to our sweet 5th six weeks staff treat bar! We are so blessed to have your support!
This week was full of GR-eatness from band taking STATE, choir winning sweepstakes, girls track winning district, Hope Squad's Day of Hope, and finally celebrating our rich diversity and many cultures around the Ranch with our Cultural Parade down mainstreet on Friday! It was amazing! It's always a GReat day to be a Longhorn when we are celebrating all the GReat things happening around us!
**ONLY ONE MORE OPPORTUNITY TO TEST!**
Please note, you must have passed the TSIA2 (or other qualifying tests) to be approved to take Dual Credit Classes for 23-24. If you have NOT your dual credit classes will be dropped! Register today with the QR code below! We will have ONE more opportunity for dual credit students to test on May 15th and 16th. This round of testing is only for students wanting to take dual credit courses for the 2023-2024 school year and have determined they don’t currently have the test scores for eligibility for the courses they have requested. Don't be caught off guard in the Fall!
Please log in and see if you have any fines for the additional ID's you had to buy due to not having yours with you. This is part of your dress code, and has been a rule all year, make sure you get it taken care of now. I do not want you caught off guard when your exemptions are NOT approved due to outstanding fees. I have included the directions below. Check today and take care of paying it this week please!
Save the Date: Athletic Physicals - May 15th @ RJH!
Keep BEING THE ONE to wear your ID and be in dress code. This is NOT optional, so there is no need to be disrespectful when we are holding you accountable. Rules are just expected to be followed, whether you agree with them or not. That's life. Your everyday choices matter and that includes your respectful body language and good manners...that I KNOW your parents taught you.
ID Weekly Reminder
ID MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I announce this EVERY SINGLE MORNING. If you cannot find yours please scan the Blue/Yellow QR code in this newsletter, in the classrooms, or hanging in the front of the school service window to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code, but more importantly a safety measure so we can quickly see who belongs and who does not on campus.

The rally was led by doubles by Dolan and Bergeron and a single by Burks. Zaria Turner led the George Ranch George Ranch Longhorns Varsity to victory in the circle. The lefthander lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out 14. GR totaled seven hits in the game. TENNIS!
Santiago Allub and Charlize Wilson made school history this week by being the first ever Regional Qualifiers in Mixed Doubles from District 20-6A. They played an outstanding first round match against a tough team from Seven Lakes. Santi and Char lost the first set 3-6, but worked together and won the next two sets with a score of 6-3 and 6-4. After this grueling two and a half hour match, we were scheduled to face the number one seed of the tournament. Thie talented duo from Memorial took a quick lead in the first set and were up 5-1, but our players didn't give up and fought back within the first set bringing it to a score of 4-6. Santi and Char played incredible in the second set, but ultimately came up short. We are so proud of these players for representing our school in the best way possible and fighting until the very end of their Regional run.
The Longhorn Tennis Program celebrated another successful year of fall team tennis and spring individual tennis this week. All players in the program earned Academic Honors and we took time to recognize our seven special seniors. Check out the senior spotlights below highlighting where our seniors plan to go next year and what they plan to study as they take this next exciting step in life! We are very excited to see what is in store for the Longhorn Tennis Program in future years as we continue to build on this strong foundation.
