Cadet Chronicles

Emmett has been a constant positive presence in the classroom. He is always willing to help out any student and is committed to excellence in the classroom. Emmett exceeds expectations both in and outside of the classroom.

Lucy comes to class prepared and ready to learn. She is kind and respectful to her peers. Lucy works hard and does her best in class.

LeiLani was selected to the 2023 UND Honor Band for bass clarinet and Emmett was selected into the 2023 UND Mixed Honor Choir. They will attend the festival in January.

Parker & Addison were selected to the 2023 Junior High All-State Choir. They will participate in the concert in February.

The Physical Science class conducted a lab experiment where the students learned how to identify compounds based on chemical properties.

Mr. Askerooth, Mrs. Christianson, & Brian lead a monthly book club for students. The book they are currently reading is "The Hate U Give."

The freshmen completed a lab from the Building Math: Everest Trek curriculum which integrates real-world math and engineering design concepts with adventurous scenarios. The students were tasked to build a carrier to bring explorers down from Mount Everest using limited resources. Each group had to use skills learned in math and science to solve the problem and bring the explorers down the mountain safely.

In careers class, students are learning about resiliency. Earlier this year, students participated in an activity called "the day in the life of an always them." Groups were tasked with building the tallest freestanding tower with a variety of materials. Throughout the building stage, groups encountered problems or rewards. For instance, no group was given the same amount of supplies. The takeaways were life isn't fair and we can't blame other people for our problems.

SC Students surpassed Dr. Warcken's AR goals for school year 21.22 and were awarded the prize of a trip to Allevity in Aberdeen.
